Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, systems-minded Staff Engineer, iOS to join our core global Product & Engineering team in a full-time remote capacity within the United Kingdom. Moving beyond traditional search concepts, AlphaSense is building AI-powered decision workflows and proactive intelligence systems that require seamless execution in fast-moving moments on mobile. In this senior hands-on leadership seat, you will claim absolute individual accountability for the architectural foundation, native performance, and structural durability of our Apple platform products across iPhone and iPad arrays. This high-agency role demands a mobile systems visionary who sets uncompromised engineering guardrails, designs clean modular boundaries in raw code, and establishes the validation environments that let distributed squads move at maximum speed without compromising polish or reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• iOS Platform Foundation Architecture: Architect, implement, and maintain the underlying native application code frameworks, modular boundary definitions, and coding standards that keep AlphaSense on iOS fast, reliable, secure, and maintainable as scale expands.
• Hands-On System Design: Program, refactor, and deliver complex production features and interactive layouts natively using Swift, SwiftUI, and modern Swift concurrency mechanisms.
• System Contract Alignment: Drive alignment across federated backend and Android circles, defining accurate client/server contracts, cross-platform API behaviors, fail-safe modes, and secure user session and authentication flows.
• AI-Enabled Velocity Integration: Pioneer and implement next-generation AI-assisted development tools, multi-modal code generation workflows, AI evaluation harnesses, and automated testing frameworks to expand mobile engineering speed safely.
• Release Quality & Automation Control: Enforce strict app store release hygiene, configuring continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, multi-layer automated validation blocks, and continuous mobile observability telemetry.
• Enterprise Security Compliance: Structure secure local storage patterns and network transport protocols tailored for highly regulated enterprise environments, accommodating Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) guidelines.
• Production Incident Triage: Investigate and diagnose unexpected mobile application crashes, memory management performance leaks, and slow rendering behaviors occurring in live production environments.
• Engineering Bar Multiplication: Mentor, guide, and multiply engineering talent across distributed mobile teams, reviewing code implementations, authoring RFCs/ADRs, and shaping a technical culture of uncompromised excellence.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Expert-tier professional history running native iOS application engineering, full-scale mobile systems architecture, custom design system integration, or cross-platform framework delivery.
• Deep, authoritative technical command building and launching production-scale mobile software natively utilizing iOS, Swift, and SwiftUI.
• Demonstrated history optimizing mobile applications for minimal memory footprint, multi-threaded task handling, low battery drainage, and fluid multi-platform Apple product experiences.
• Proven capacity to reason across the full mobile system, evaluating backend service logic, database caching layers, and client/server transaction boundaries clearly.
• Experience configuring automated mobile application deployment channels, unit testing paradigms, and real-time app telemetry dashboards.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with a proven ability to translate complex technical decisions into clear customer outcomes and document them via structured technical records.
• Location Context: Full-time remote parameters open exclusively to qualified Staff iOS developers base-stationed permanently anywhere within the United Kingdom to execute 100% from home.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

• Prior experience developing mobile software applications for prominent international fintech, investment banking, market research, or data-heavy enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
• Practical exposure making targeted code modifications to backend microservices or APIs natively leveraging **Python**, Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, or Node.js.
