About the Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Product team in Spain and help us build thoughtful, reliable experiences for teachers and students. You’ll contribute across the stack, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to understand problems, shape solutions, build features, and improve the product with user impact always in mind.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to understand user needs, explore solutions, and contribute to product and technical discussions with your own perspective.
  • Take ownership of problems by understanding their user impact, proposing solutions, and driving implementation with support from teammates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Develop pixel-perfect designs in partnership with the Design team.
  • Build simple, clean, testable, and reliable code across the stack.
  • Continuously learn and improve Edpuzzle’s software, tools, and processes.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software.
  • Write technical documentation to help others understand decisions and systems.
  • Contribute wherever needed to help the team deliver meaningful outcomes.

Technical Stack

Technically, we use React and Redux for the frontend, and Node.js and Express with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and hexagonal architecture in the backend. Our database is MongoDB, and we’re fully hosted on AWS for video storage, encoding, and streaming. Engineers also leverage Claude Code for AI-assisted development, testing, trunk-based development, and CI/CD pipelines.

About Our Team

We’re a deeply product-focused team where engineers think beyond implementation, challenge assumptions, and contribute to better product decisions. Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Infrastructure, Design, Data, QA, and Security fosters broad exposure and strong product judgment.

About You

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in frontend, backend, or full-stack development.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and delivering end-to-end features in real-world systems.
  • Proficient in building complex interactive UIs with React and backend systems with Node.js, ideally in high-traffic environments.
  • Comfortable working across the stack and aiming to become full-stack.
  • Product-oriented mindset: prioritize solving the right problems over building things right.
  • Pragmatic with technology: use tools to solve product problems, not as an end goal.
  • Responsible use of AI and modern tools to support work without replacing judgment or ownership.
  • Avid learner who challenges assumptions and proactively seeks better solutions.
  • Ownership-driven, autonomous, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Fluent in spoken Spanish and written English.
  • Based in Spain with a valid work permit.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in startup/scaleup environments and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and contributing beyond pure implementation.
  • Experience with Redux, Express.js, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with complex backend architectures like Hexagonal Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
