Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Software Engineer (Applied AI) to join our core centralized Research & Development (R&D) collective in a full-time remote capacity across Portugal. In this high-leverage and high-velocity engineering seat, you will step up to claim individual strategic operational accountability for the end-to-end design, implementation, and iteration of our AI-native benefits administration platform. Shifting completely away from routine CRUD SaaS programming or passive maintenance loops, you will operate on the cutting edge of modern software execution—building production-ready, user-facing features while simultaneously tuning advanced machine learning models. This position requires an engineering veteran with 2 plus years of startup or fast-paced industry experience who constructs interactive frontends fluidly natively using Frontend frameworks (specifically React and TypeScript), structures robust relational backends smoothly natively using Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy), and deploys applied AI/ML pipelines confidently.

Key Responsibilities

• AI-First End-to-End Feature Engineering: Architect, deploy, and scale next-generation enterprise benefit platform capabilities from initial code layout through to multi-tenant deployment natively utilizing Frontend system principles.
• Full-Stack Multi-Language Delivery: Write, test, and ship clean production-ready feature blocks, constructing responsive customer interfaces using React and TypeScript while building high-performance RESTful APIs and data pipelines using Python.
• Applied AI and Machine Learning Triage: Design, integrate, and monitor interactive features leveraging advanced personalization engines, complex multi-step reasoning agents, LLMs, enterprise recommender systems, and reinforcement learning loops natively leveraging AI Engineer parameters.
• Next-Generation AI Development Mastery: Champion and push the absolute boundaries of software production speeds by embedding modern AI-powered development tools (including Cursor and Windsurf execution suites) directly into your daily programming workflows.
• Clean Codebase and Testing Governance: Write and preserve highly efficient, maintainable, and type-safe code architectures, enforcing rigorous unit, integration, and deployment testing loops paired with crisp documentation frameworks.
• Asynchronous Growth and Code Review: Actively participate in peer-led code audits, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) automations, and a feedback-rich development culture to structurally minimize technical debt.
• Cross-Functional Architecture Alignment: Partner in lockstep with distributed design, product strategy, and customer-facing teams to transform complex behavioral insights into functional technical specifications at a world-class pace.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2 plus years of verified professional history running advanced full-stack software development, machine learning systems engineering, SaaS product optimization, or data platform infrastructure consulting within a fast-scaling startup or high-velocity tech enterprise.
• Deep, authoritative technical command of modern system design principles, state management, RESTful web services orchestration, database normalization, and relational object-relational mapping.
• Expert-tier capability building scalable web architectures and coding performant, type-safe logic loops natively utilizing Frontend runtime codebases (specifically requiring React, JavaScript, and TypeScript).
• Practical operational familiarity designing backend architectures, deploying endpoints, and managing data modeling pipelines natively using Python toolsets (specifically requiring FastAPI and SQLAlchemy).
• Demonstrated experience successfully delivering real-world, user-facing AI/ML features into a production environment, with an insatiable data curiosity to stay aligned with algorithmic advances.
• Proven familiarity launching, managing, and maintaining cloud services inside modern enterprise cloud networks (strongly preferring Google Cloud Platform, though AWS or Azure are acceptable).
• Outstanding verbal, written, and document communication traits in business-fluent English, enabling uncompromised clarity when explaining complex technical frameworks to non-technical stakeholders.
• Location Context: Position open exclusively to qualified full-stack engineers based permanently and resident within **Portugal** to operate under a 100% remote layout.
