SEO Content Writer & Editor (AI-Assisted)
PhilippinesJob Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Our client is a US digital marketing agency operating on Pacific Time, producing SEO content for professional-services businesses — law firms in particular, along with construction companies, HR consultancies and established small businesses. They have already solved the part most agencies are still arguing about: their content is drafted in Copy.ai, from outlines built on real keyword research, and then a human being makes it publishable. That human is who they are hiring.
This is a writing role, and only a writing role. You build the SEO content outline, you write the prompts that produce the first draft, and then you do the work that actually determines whether the piece is any good: you copy edit it until it is accurate, sourced, on-voice and ready to publish. There is no WordPress in this job. No Elementor, no posting, no QA queue. Your responsibility ends at approved, publication-ready content, and a teammate takes it from there.
We want to be straight about where the difficulty sits, because it is not where people expect. Directing Copy.ai well takes judgment, but it is learnable in a fortnight. What separates a strong candidate here is the edit. AI drafts arrive fluent and confident and quietly wrong: statistics that no source supports, citations to organisations that do not exist, a competitor's firm dropped in as a helpful example, the target keyword worked in fourteen times, a call to action that could belong to anyone, and — in legal content — a sentence that promises an outcome no lawyer would sign off on. Catching all of that, every time, under a 72-hour turnaround, is the job. If your instinct on reading a smooth paragraph is to ask "can I verify this?", you will do well here.
You work inside a structured team: an SEO Specialist researches and clears topics with the client quarterly and loads keywords, sections and FAQs into ClickUp; you build the outline, draft and edit; the Project Manager and SEO Lead coordinate priorities and the content calendar. 25 hours a week, fully remote, largely asynchronous.
How the Work Flows
Knowing the whole pipeline makes it clear where your work starts and stops.
- The SEO Specialist researches topics, gets them approved by the client each quarter, then adds supporting keywords, sections to cover and FAQs to the ClickUp task.
- You build the SEO content outline in Semrush from that approved topic and keyword set, and format it into the client's content outline document.
- You draft the piece using Copy.ai, writing prompts built from the outline to produce an SEO-optimized first draft. Typical turnaround is approximately 72 hours per piece.
- You copy edit the draft—links, sourcing, keyword usage, CTAs, competitor mentions, readability. Typical turnaround is approximately 72 hours.
- The draft goes to the client for approval, and you handle any revisions requested.
- Once approved, the content is handed off for posting in WordPress/Elementor and QA. No further involvement from you.
Key Responsibilities
Content Writing & Drafting
- Write and produce blog content and website copy using Copy.ai from SEO-approved outlines. This is the core, recurring weekly function of the role.
- Build and refine prompts in Copy.ai that produce SEO-optimized first drafts closely following the approved outline, rather than generic output you then have to rescue.
- Deliver drafts inside the expected turnaround window of approximately 72 hours per piece.
- Write for the target audience and hold to the client's voice and brand standards, not the tool's default register.
SEO Content Outline Development
- Build SEO content outlines in Semrush from the keyword research and topics approved by the client and SEO Lead.
- Format completed outlines into the client's content outline document template, including sections to cover, supporting keywords and FAQs.
- Confirm the outline is complete and drafting-ready before you begin writing, and raise anything missing rather than filling the gap with a guess.
Copy Editing & Quality Control
- Copy edit every drafted piece: internal and external links, sourcing accuracy, keyword usage, calls to action and overall readability.
- Verify factual claims and citations against real sources, and cut or replace anything you cannot stand behind.
- Remove all competitor mentions and hold the piece to the client's guidelines.
- Deliver content that needs no cleanup after your review. Typical copy editing turnaround is approximately 72 hours per piece.
Revisions & Client Feedback
- Handle all revisions requested after client review.
- Turn vague feedback into specific changes, and confirm your reading of it before rewriting half a piece in the wrong direction.
- Return revised content inside agreed timelines and keep the Project Manager clear on revision scope and turnaround.
Task & Deadline Management
- Keep content tasks and deadlines current in ClickUp so the team always knows where each piece stands without asking.
- Coordinate with the SEO Lead and Project Manager on keyword priorities and content calendar scheduling.
- Flag blockers, delays and missing information early, while they are still small.
Requirements
- 2+ years producing SEO-optimized blog and web content in English, with a portfolio of published work.
- Hands-on experience directing an AI writing platform — Copy.ai, Jasper, Writer, ChatGPT or similar — as a working part of a paid content workflow, writing your own prompts.
- Demonstrated copy editing ability on AI-generated drafts, including verifying sources, checking that links resolve and support the claim, and cutting anything unverifiable.
- Solid grasp of SEO fundamentals: keyword usage and placement, content structure, headings, internal linking and on-page best practices.
- Native-level written English, with clean grammar and controlled tone for a US audience.
- Experience building content outlines from keyword research, in Semrush or an equivalent platform.
- Reliable with deadlines inside a defined turnaround window, and proactive in communicating when something is at risk.
- Comfortable working asynchronously in a task-managed workflow, keeping your own tasks current without prompting.
- Reliable internet, a working computer, and a quiet place to write.
Preferred Qualifications
- Writing or editing experience for law firms or other professional-services clients.
- Specific experience with Copy.ai and with Semrush content tools.
- Experience with ClickUp or a comparable task platform such as Asana, Monday or Jira.
- Experience in construction, trades, HR or B2B service content.
- Familiarity with the compliance edges of legal marketing content, particularly outcome and results claims.
- Experience handling client revision rounds directly rather than through a layer of account management.
- Working knowledge of AI search and generative engine optimization, and how content structure affects citation.
Tools & Software
- Copy.ai (primary drafting platform)
- Semrush (content outlines and keyword research)
- ClickUp (tasks, deadlines, content calendar)
- The client's content outline document template
- Microsoft Teams and OneDrive for communication and file management
- Grammarly or equivalent editing support
- Hubstaff for time tracking
What Makes You a Great Fit
- You know how to take a keyword brief and turn it into a draft that reads like it was written for the reader, not for a search engine.
- Copy.ai is a tool you direct with intention. Your prompts are thoughtful and your output needs polish, not rescue.
- Your first reaction to a confident statistic in a draft is to go and check it.
- You can spot a competitor's name in a paragraph that otherwise reads perfectly well, and you know why it has to go.
- Your copy edits are thorough: links are checked, sourcing holds, CTAs are clear, competitors are gone, and the piece is ready to publish.
- You hit your 72-hour turnarounds consistently and flag delays before they become problems.
- When feedback is vague, you get it specific before you start rewriting.
- Your ClickUp is current because you keep it that way, not because someone reminded you.
- You are the kind of writer a busy agency can rely on — organized, skilled and easy to work with.
