Established in 2004, Lakshya Digital - a Keywords Studio - is the largest interactive entertainment and game development services studio in South Asia. Our main production studios are in India, and we maintain satellite studios in Europe, North America, and Japan.

We're looking for a Senior World Artist to lead the delivery of high-quality environments for an exciting sports/racing title being developed in Unity.

Working closely with the client's internal team, you'll take ownership of transforming grey-box levels into visually rich, performant game environments. Acting as both an artist and a project lead, you'll define the artistic approach, plan the work, produce clear briefs for an external art team, and oversee assets through to final implementation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing artistic quality with practical production, ensuring environments are delivered efficiently, on budget, and to the highest technical standards.

What You'll Do

  • Review grey-box levels and develop a clear artistic vision that supports gameplay, readability, and the overall visual direction.
  • Break environments into achievable work packages and produce accurate estimates for asset creation and implementation.
  • Create comprehensive asset briefs, including reference, technical specifications, modular requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Work closely with production to plan, prioritize, and track environment deliverables.
  • Guide and review the work of a distributed team of environment artists, providing clear feedback to ensure consistent quality.
  • Oversee the implementation of environment assets within Unity, ensuring they integrate cleanly with existing systems and workflows.
  • Drive optimisation throughout production, balancing visual quality with performance, memory, and production cost.
  • Collaborate with designers, technical artists, and engineers to resolve artistic and technical challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise asset reuse, modularity, and efficient production workflows.
  • Maintain documentation, pipelines, and best practices to support consistent delivery across the team.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Significant professional experience as a Senior Environment Artist on shipped console or PC titles.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality environment art and excellent understanding of composition, materials, and environmental storytelling.
  • Experience planning and delivering large-scale environment production from concept or grey-box through to final implementation.
  • Demonstrable experience creating detailed asset briefs and managing outsourced or distributed art production.
  • Excellent understanding of modular environment construction and efficient asset reuse.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unity and its environment production workflows.
  • Excellent understanding of optimisation techniques, including draw calls, batching, LODs, texture budgets, memory management, and performance profiling.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to estimate work accurately and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of environment delivery.

Desirable

  • Experience working on sports, racing, or other large-scale outdoor environments.
  • Experience leading outsourced art production or working within an art outsourcing studio.
  • Familiarity with procedural environment workflows and world-building tools.
  • Experience developing modular kits and scalable environment pipelines.
  • Understanding of lighting, terrain, vegetation, and material workflows within Unity.
  • Experience mentoring junior and mid-level environment artists.
