Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Flock's media engine is expanding to share real stories of community safety and evidence-driven outcomes across the country. The role has two equally important sides: cinematic, documentary-style storytelling and high-octane, social-first editing.
You will be Flock’s first full-time dedicated editor and a senior craft presence within Film & Editorial, owning the edit from rough cut to final delivery.
What You'll Own
Lead the end-to-end editorial process for short-form and long-form video content, including documentary-style case studies, brand campaigns, and product feature spotlights.
Transform raw field footage, customer interviews, and motion assets into narrative-driven videos that communicate Flock's mission and real-world impact.
Collaborate directly with creative directors, producers, and marketing teams to establish editorial pacing, visual style, and storytelling standards across channels.
Manage post-production workflows, including color grading, sound design, audio leveling, motion graphics integration, and asset organization.
Produce multiple format cuts optimized for web, social media, event presentations, and executive keynotes.
What This Role is Not
This isn't a passive editing task; you'll drive the creative direction of the edit and shape the narrative structure.
This isn't a field production or camera operator position; video producers and field crews handle production, allowing you to focus entirely on post-production storytelling.
This isn't a motion-graphics-only or 3D animation role; you will incorporate motion elements, but your primary expertise is narrative video editing and visual pacing.
What You Bring
8+ years of experience in video editing across brand stories, documentary narratives, or commercial campaigns.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with deep mastery of Premiere Pro and solid working knowledge of After Effects.
Familiarity or working knowledge with platforms like LucidLink, Twelve Labs, and generative AI tools such as Runway or Figma Weave is a plus.
A reel that shows emotional range, narrative intelligence, and technical finish—not simply footage assembled cleanly to music.
Demonstrated ability to build compelling narrative arcs from unscripted footage and customer interviews.
Precise eye for pacing, rhythm, visual continuity, and audio mixing that elevates the production value of every cut.

Flock Safety
View Company ProfileFlock Safety is a comprehensive public safety operating system and security hardware network designed to eliminate crime and build safer communities. The company is most widely recognized for its proprietary Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras, which capture actionable vehicle data—such as license plates, vehicle make, type, color, and unique identifying features (like roof racks or bumper stickers). Under the hood, Flock Safety combines solar-powered, infrastructure-free hardware with an advanced, cloud-based machine learning platform. This software instantly cross-references captured vehicle data against state and national crime databases (like the FBI's NCIC), sending real-time alerts to local law enforcement when a stolen or wanted vehicle enters a monitored area. Their primary target audience spans a wide spectrum, including thousands of local police departments, Homeowners Associations (HOAs), property managers, school districts, and commercial businesses. What sets Flock Safety apart in the physical security space is its ethical, privacy-first approach to surveillance—data is strictly encrypted, automatically deleted after 30 days by default, does not use facial recognition, and is expressly not sold to third parties, striking a unique balance between proactive crime prevention and community privacy.
