About the Role: Dropzone is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to own the documentation for their product, ensuring security teams can self-serve without opening tickets. This role involves creating integration guides, admin/configuration docs, API references, release notes, and explanatory materials about AI-driven workflows.

You’ll work closely with product, engineering, customer success, and sales engineering, reporting directly to the Head of Product. This is not a formatting role—you’ll collaborate with teams during feature development, extract critical details, and ensure customers can succeed independently.

What You’ll Do:

• Own the customer documentation platform, including information architecture, workflows, reviews, publishing, and search—ensuring accuracy and ease of use.
• Write and maintain integration guides for data/alert sources using a repeatable template for new integrations.
• Create admin and governance documentation for enterprise/MSSP customers, covering tenant management, access control, API keys, audit trails, and response action authorization.
• Lead the API reference and developer-facing docs, collaborating with engineering to balance auto-generated and hand-written content.
• Write release notes that clearly communicate changes, benefits, and limitations to customers—ensuring documentation ships with every release.
• Develop explanatory materials to help customers understand and govern AI-driven investigations, evidence presentation, and system limitations.
• Partner with customer success and support to identify and close documentation gaps that generate tickets.
• Establish a style guide and docs-as-code workflow that empowers engineers and PMs to contribute without bottlenecks.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of technical writing experience for software products with technical buyers, including 2+ years documenting APIs, integrations, or infrastructure-adjacent products.
• Fluency in docs-as-code: Git, Markdown, and at least one static documentation framework (e.g., Docusaurus, MkDocs).
• Ability to read code and API specs accurately, spotting discrepancies between implementation and documentation.
• A portfolio demonstrating the ability to explain complex systems to practitioners with structure and precision under time pressure.
• Comfort interviewing engineers and product managers to extract detailed, complete information.
• Strong editorial judgment to determine what to include/exclude and defend those choices.
• Experience owning a documentation set end-to-end, including architecture and maintenance—not just individual articles.
• A preference for focused ownership over distributed coordination; thrive in small, accountable teams.

Preferred:

• Cybersecurity or security operations experience, with familiarity with SIEM, EDR, identity, and cloud security data sources.
• Experience documenting AI/ML products, particularly explaining model behavior, evidence, and limitations to non-specialists.
• Experience as the first/only documentation hire at a Series A–C stage company.
• Experience with documentation analytics and using support ticket data to prioritize content.
• Familiarity with structured authoring or content reuse systems.

Work Environment: Fully remote with company-provided equipment. Semi-frequent travel to offices/events locally/nationally, including some overnight travel.
