About your role
As a Senior Tax Accountant on our Fund Tax Compliance team, you'll own the partnership tax compliance cycle for a portfolio of private funds — preparing workpapers for complex allocations, book-to-tax adjustments, and capital account maintenance. You will perform critical reviews of Form 1065 filings and investor K-1s to ensure absolute accuracy. This role suits an experienced partnership tax professional who wants engagement ownership and a path toward management.
What you'll do
- Assist in the review of U.S. partnership income tax returns (Form 1065), investor Schedule K-1s, and supporting workpapers for investment funds and management companies.
- Own complex partnership tax work, including aggregate and special allocations, waterfall and carried-interest calculations, book-to-tax differences, and capital account maintenance.
- Own the end-to-end tax deliverables for assigned funds, including managing K-1 delivery timelines and overall quality.
- Manage filing calendars, extensions, and deliverable timelines across multiple funds to ensure on-time, penalty-free filing.
- Research partnership tax issues and document positions clearly for internal review.
- Coordinate with fund accounting teams, external auditors, and onboarding teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Mentor and train associates and interns; contribute to workflow and quality improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–3 years of partnership tax experience in public accounting, fund administration, or a comparable environment.
- A professional accounting qualification — CPA, Chartered Accountant (CA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or local equivalent — or clear progress toward one (strongly preferred).
- Hands-on knowledge of partnership taxation, Form 1065, Schedule K-1 preparation and review, and tax allocations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly, both in writing and to colleagues.
- Strong review skills and the judgment to identify and resolve issues before deliverables are finalized.
- Proven ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities across multiple engagements during busy season.
- Advanced Excel; proficiency with professional tax software.
- Experience across private equity, venture capital, real estate, and/or hedge fund structures.
- Experience with tax software such as GoSystem or CCH Axcess and fund administration platforms.
- Exposure to SALT, international information reporting (Forms 8621, 1042), or investor withholding.
