About Tines: Tines is a premier, internationally recognized workflow automation pioneer, no-code orchestration innovator, and enterprise software security leader on an absolute mission to power some of the world’s most important operational workflows. By unifying artificial intelligence, advanced machine automation, and human ingenuity into an elegant, highly resilient digital canvas, Tines drives measurable real-world business results across a prestigious, multi-tenant customer base spanning agile startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, including Canva, Databricks, Elastic, Kayak, Intercom, and McKesson. Operating as a completely vendor-agnostic integrator across the entire corporate tech stack, the platform connects with any API-enabled service, helping security, infrastructure, and financial cells achieve their highest-priority execution milestones faster. Grounded firmly in core engineering values of Simplicity, Speed, and Soundness, Tines provides high-agency systems builders with an uncompromised remote canvas to tackle complex cloud scaling challenges and advance secure automation safely worldwide.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, security-minded Senior Software Engineer - Government Cloud to join our core centralized Engineering team in a full-time remote capacity across the United States, with a strategic local hub alignment option in the Greater Boston Area. In this high-leverage architectural seat, you will step up to claim individual strategic accountability for managing, defining, and optimizing the comprehensive software product features and developer tools required to host Tines seamlessly inside compliance-regulated cloud environments like AWS GovCloud. Shifting completely away from superficial script editing or mechanical patching, you will own the application-layer security guardrails, implementing features such as federal smart-card authentication, records retention matrices, and exportable audit registries. This position requires an enterprise engineering veteran with 7+ years of commercial development background who reasons about application encryption fluidly, refactors multi-cloud telemetry abstractions smoothly, and translates strict compliance constraints into pristine, production-ready code blocks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardened Cloud Feature Development: Design, build, and optimize highly secure product capabilities inside a compliance-regulated infrastructure, writing object-oriented logic with an uncompromised focus on application-layer encryption and data auditability natively utilizing Backend Ruby on Rails configurations.
  • Federal Platform Authentication Engineering: Code and deploy advanced authentication protocols requested by federal customers, including native smart-card credentialing support and multi-tenant single sign-on (SSO) abstractions natively leveraging Frontend React and TypeScript architectures.
  • Declarative Developer Tool Abstractions: Build environment-aware feature flags, unified configuration loaders, and automated boundary testing tools to allow distributed product teams to author code safely without needing direct access to sovereign federal environments.
  • Infrastructure Telemetry and Dependency Tracking: Simplify, optimize, and maintain cross-cloud observability pipelines, structured logging blocks, and container deployments across relational datastores and OpenSearch infrastructure dependencies.
  • Application-Layer Vulnerability Mitigation: Audit, parse, and harden the core code base against emergent application security gaps, adapting active product features to rigorously satisfy auditable government standards.
  • Cross-Functional Compliance Translation: Collaborate peer-to-peer across distributed product and design cells to translate abstract government compliance controls (such as FedRAMP, FISMA, SOC 2, or CMMC regulations) into practical engineering roadmaps.
  • Regulated Escalation Operational Triage: Support federal self-hosted customer cells operating inside our CMMC computing spaces, resolving long-running technical support cases and configuration bugs as part of the engineering on-call rotation.
  • Ecosystem Security Mentorship: Lead technical review blocks and mentor peer software engineers on secure architectural patterns, private-by-design infrastructure models, and optimal refactoring practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of verified professional history running commercial full-stack software development, application-layer security engineering, cloud systems programming, or enterprise tech stack consulting.
  • Deep, authoritative software engineering command of high-level programming languages, application access controls, encryption standards, data retention matrices, and distributed system design patterns.
  • Expert-tier background building scalable server architectures, refactoring monolith modules, and organizing relational databases natively utilizing Backend tools (including comfort completing hands-on coding tests).
  • Practical operational familiarity constructing fluid user workflows, handling data serialization, and tracking asynchronous event cycles natively leveraging Frontend scripts (such as React, TypeScript, or JavaScript options).
  • Demonstrated capability to analyze application features for security gaps, implementing auditable code patterns seamlessly without causing live production regressions.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication traits in fluent English, with a proven ability to translate complex compliance criteria into highly scannable development briefs.
  • Legal Citizenship Constraint: Due to the nature of this position and explicit U.S. Government customer compliance mandates, applicants must hold active **U.S. Citizenship** and must perform all engineering operations while located strictly within the United States.
  • Location Context: Position open to qualified full-stack developers based permanently within the **United States** under a 100% remote layout, with a geographic preference for the Greater Boston Area to facilitate optional in-office collaboration in our downtown Boston facility.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior commercial backend programming history operating within a cybersecurity startup, compliance automation platform, financial technology enterprise, or identity and access management (IAM) software group.
  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud orchestration and declarative systems deployment, showing background utilizing AWS CDK, Postgres databases, Redis caching grids, or Kubernetes container layers.
  • Direct experience delivering software products within auditable cloud standards, highlighting exposure navigating FedRAMP, FISMA, SOC 2, CMMC, HIPAA, or parallel structural frameworks.
  • An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in continuous analytical curiosity, an customer-obsessed focus on root-cause bug isolation, and an affinity for utilizing simple, common tools to solve hard enterprise problems.

What We Offer

  • High-Yield United States Salaried Blueprint: An attractive full-time base salary scale structured transparently between $210,000 – $220,000 USD per year, calibrated precisely to evaluate and reward your platform security authority, full-stack craftsmanship, and compliance execution velocity, supplemented by corporate **Equity** options.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and code-engineer the workflow automation tools and security layers power-routing sovereign cloud platforms for federal organizations and global tech giants.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering a permanent remote workplace setup across America, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic commuting friction, alongside shared office space access in Boston.
  • Immediate eligibility to access comprehensive premium health, dental, and vision insurance coverage options.
  • Access to excellent financial protection benefits, featuring a company-sponsored corporate retirement savings program alongside complete enterprise equipment allowances.
  • Generous personal and educational calibration rewards, featuring fully realistic workload scheduling to avoid burnout, full coverage of educational material costs, and comprehensive vacation allocations to support sustainable career maturation.
