As a Senior Software Engineer at Pennylane, your squad is your primary focus. You will contribute to building reliable, scalable, and user-focused products while helping engineers around you grow and raising the quality of our technical execution. Your responsibilities include:
Understand and frame user and product problems, using your product knowledge to help your squad deliver simple, pragmatic, and valuable solutions.
Lead significant technical deliveries within your squad, from understanding the problem to designing, implementing, testing, and operating the solution in production.
Investigate and resolve complex production issues, using monitoring, observability, and data analysis tools to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Design and evolve robust solutions, identifying performance, scalability, and reliability opportunities and turning them into pragmatic technical improvements.
Bring strong expertise in at least one major part of our stack, while being able to join a new team and become autonomous on a high-impact initiative within a few weeks.
Improve engineering practices across the organization through high-quality code reviews, pair programming, documentation, RFCs, and the adoption of AI-assisted development without compromising software quality.
Act as a role model and driver for other engineers, sharing knowledge, providing actionable feedback, and helping the team continuously improve its technical skills and ways of working.
Collaborate effectively with other teams when needed, proactively unblocking technical topics and clearly communicating progress, risks, decisions, and results to stakeholders.
Contribute to the Pennylane tech community through technical content, onboarding, interviews, incident resolution, tech initiatives, meetups, or other community-building activities.
Youâre the right candidate if you...
Have strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and React (at least 7-8 years).
Combine technical expertise with strong product and business understanding, enjoy solving complex problems, and care deeply about your users.
Are a collaborative team player, communicate clearly, and take ownership of delivering reliable, pragmatic solutions.
Like being challenged and solving complex problems (accounting is complex in Europe).
Have strong communication skills and are capable of articulating your ideas clearly.
