Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, the role is focused on developing and driving forward CisionOne’s media intelligence platform and the systems/processes required to support it. Working with the Ruby on Rails and VueJS frameworks and other relevant backend and frontend technologies, you will be part of a team of existing software engineers building and enhancing CisionOne’s desktop and mobile apps, support systems, and will help to plan & design future innovations.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Collaborate with CisionOne’s Product Managers, Business Developers, Account Managers, and customers to understand requirements of product features and business problems.
• Design data and software structure to bring these features to life and solve these problems, extending existing components from the CisionOne architecture or adding new ones.
• Discover and evaluate external libraries, services, and APIs that can be leveraged to speed up the development process.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery, applying sound judgment to review, test, and take ownership of any AI-generated code.
• Write version-controlled code to implement the agreed solution, primarily with the Ruby on Rails framework on the backend and the VueJS framework on the frontend, following industry best practices and CisionOne’s conventions.
• Write automated unit and end-to-end tests to validate the behavior of the features.
• Submit code for reviews of accuracy, maintainability, and efficiency performed by automated quality checks as well as other engineers in the team.
• Review code written by other engineers in the team.
• Deploy code to CisionOne’s preview and staging environments for testing and validation.
• Gather feedback from various stakeholders and adjust solutions accordingly.
• Merge and deploy code to production environments and monitor for unexpected behavior.
• Investigate and fix feature or performance issues reported by internal or external users of CisionOne’s products.

Skills & Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience.
• Working with the Ruby on Rails and VueJS frameworks and other relevant backend and frontend technologies.
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot responsibly and effectively, with a critical eye for the quality, security, and correctness of their output.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and/or deliver on complex software systems.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot.
• Understand software best practice and advise accordingly.

Preferred Skills

• Some DevOps experience, particularly with Kubernetes and Elasticsearch.
• Media/news/content experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience working with Excel, Project Management Tools/CRM tools/Boolean Search.
