About the Role

Data is highly valued at LocalStack, and this role is an opportunity to shape their product analytics strategy as they scale. You’ll connect fragmented data and user identities across the Emulator, CLI, VS Code extension, web app, and docs, using rich product telemetry to understand how behavior drives conversion, expansion, and churn. You’ll help define what they build versus buy, establish better product analytics foundations, and turn usage data into insights that inform pricing, packaging, and growth decisions. You’ll work closely with highly technical teams and have significant ownership in shaping how product analytics, data tooling, and AI-assisted ways of working evolve at LocalStack.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and evangelize product analytics foundations, delivering actionable insights for GTM, Finance, Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams on how the product is being bought and used (across PLG and SLG channels).
• Connect the user journey across the Emulator, CLI, VS Code extension, console, docs site, and website, offering a 360-degree customer view into customer behavior (for all types: human, CI, AI agent) and composites (e.g., human + AI).
• Translate complex datasets into clear insights with strategic recommendations that drive measurable actions and outcomes impacting product success.
• Understand how data currently flows at LocalStack and work with technical teams to develop enrichments to deliver the product analytics vision.
• Develop insights that prove out the value proposition/ROI for customers in collaboration with customers and customer-facing teams.

Specialist Skills and Experience

• 7+ years in data analytics with a strong focus on product analytics.
• Experience modeling a unified system, showcasing architecture-level thinking.
• Strong experience with complex SQL and ideally programming languages such as Python.
• Experience with web and product analytics tools such as Posthog, GA4, Segment, RudderStack, Heap, Amplitude, Contentsquare, or equivalents.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to quickly prototype and iterate across analysis, data modeling, instrumentation, visualization, and code development.
