Position Overview

We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and culturally proficient Senior Producer to direct our second-party externally developed game pipelines for the Japanese market under a permanent, full-time remote configuration based in Japan. Sitting directly within our global Publishing vertical and reporting directly to the Japan General Manager, this high-leverage organizational seat takes full product ownership over external developer relations from initial design ideation through green light milestones, global localization packaging, and live operations. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated data entry, basic visual website layout configurations, or standalone content drafting loops, you will operate an active cross-functional studio management, IP licensor compliance, and technical milestone validation laboratory. Partnering face-to-face with Japanese studios, anime/manga brand managers, and the US Publishing headquarters, you will act as a primary platform anchor. This position requires a production authority with 6+ years of video game history who guides software pipelines fluidly natively using Game Dev and project management primitives, manages complex P&L development budgets, enforces high creative vision bars, and possesses native-level Japanese fluency alongside strong English communication strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • External Production Pipeline Governance: Command the complete production pipeline for externally developed games in Japan, overseeing developer selection, contract milestones, and launch readiness natively utilizing Game Dev best practices.
  • Japanese Developer Partnership Cultivation: Build, scale, and nurture trust-based relationships with Japan-based external game developers ranging from boutique studios to major tier-1 development houses.
  • Iconic IP Licensor Management: Negotiate, manage, and coordinate day-to-day approval frameworks with prominent Japanese entertainment, anime, manga, and character brand holders, adhering to rigid licensor guidelines.
  • Creative Direction & Playthrough Audits: Conduct structured, routine game build playthroughs to assess mechanics, UI fluidities, and entertainment value, offering sharp, motivating, and timely feedback without stripping developer ownership.
  • Milestone Budget & Schedule Instrumentation: Manage full financial project budgets, process incoming milestone payments, optimize development schedules, and flag budget overruns to the Japan GM and Finance teams early.
  • Global Cross-Functional Harmonization: Serve as the key link aligning Japan’s external game pipeline with the US Publishing roadmap, core internal engineering frameworks, and global platform standards.
  • Comprehensive Localization Planning: Partner alongside the Localization Manager from early pre-production phases to scope string freezes, translation turnarounds, asset handoffs, and localized QA passes into master schedules.
  • Live Operations & Retention Strategy: Structure data-driven post-launch update roadmaps, tracking live-ops telemetry, content cadence rollouts, and quality-of-life adjustments to drive user retention indices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6+ years of proven, successful professional history operating inside a Senior Game Producer, External Production Lead, Game Development Manager, Publishing Director, or closely matching interactive tech capacity.
  • Expert Full-Lifecycle Production Command: Demonstrated track record managing game project budgets, milestone delivery grids, approval meetings, and cross-functional product sign-offs from green light to commercial release.
  • Profound, practical knowledge of core game development disciplines, including software engineering constraints, creative game design, asset pipeline tracking, and rigorous QA methodologies.
  • Proven ability to make hard development calls decisively under pressure, including recommending changes in creative direction, code overhauls, or developer replacements when quality targets drop.
  • Mandatory Dual-Language Fluency: Native or near-native professional proficiency in verbal and written Japanese to negotiate with domestic partners, combined with strong, professional English proficiency for global team collaboration.
  • Outstanding problem-solving habits with a high attention to detail, capable of managing multiple interactive projects simultaneously in an agile, remote environment.
  • Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified interactive entertainment production executives residing permanently within Japan.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior production history or direct technical background engineering motion-based games, computer vision interactions, or family-focused/kids active entertainment software.
  • Existing relationships, networks, or past collaboration history inside Japan’s prominent game development community and major entertainment publishing networks.
  • Familiarity with data-driven live operations frameworks, user acquisition telemetry, or active player retention modeling.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Global Interactive Entertainment Package: A highly competitive annual total remuneration structure calibrated directly to your game production pedigree, matched with localized benefits and performance features.
  • 100% remote workspace infrastructure autonomy across Japan, providing flexible working hours and a highly supportive remote family culture.
  • Front-Row Emerging Tech Credentials: Elite professional growth milestones achieved by mapping world-class entertainment IP and iconic Japanese gaming loops onto cutting-edge computer vision play systems.
  • Comprehensive employee well-being parameters, generous flexible vacation policies, and dedicated professional development tracks.
  • Access to an open, product-driven culture that values bold ideas over titles, treasures unique individual talent growth, and celebrates collective software wins.
