Ellipsis is emerging as a market leader in “GEO” for B2B technology companies. This is a high-impact, varied role in a fast-moving and ambitious agency.
The transition to AI search has put a lot of the SEO industry on the back foot. Ellipsis has always been consultative and strategic in its approach, starting to build AI search products in 2021 using GPT-2, positioning them to thrive during this shift.
Today, Ellipsis claims a superior understanding of AI search, backed by proprietary tracking tools, an extensive dataset (~25 million AI answers for analysis, growing weekly), and end-to-end execution capabilities—from strategy and writing to design, optimization, and performance reporting.
As the newest Senior Organic Search Strategist, you will lead the organic search strategy for a portfolio of clients, determining priorities, timelines, and execution plans. You’ll act as a strategic partner, aligning client goals with actionable programs for the Content, Writing, and Design teams to deliver measurable wins.
With a growing client base, Ellipsis is expanding its strategy team to support sales efforts, refine AI search strategies, and drive continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team.
What You’ll Do
The role demands strategic judgment, balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on execution—from minor content updates to comprehensive technical SEO audits. Your responsibilities include:
1. Owning Client Strategy
Develop and oversee GEO strategies for your client portfolio, starting with deep client analysis—goals, market position, and competitive advantages. Translate insights into clear, outcome-driven programs, briefing internal teams while ensuring alignment with client priorities. Strategic judgment is key: knowing when to pivot and when to persist, and articulating these decisions to clients.
2. Piloting Proprietary Technology
Leverage Ellipsis’ in-house AI search tools daily to identify optimal client strategies. Provide feedback on tool performance to refine and improve the platform, ensuring recommendations are data-driven and actionable.
3. Driving Performance
Monitor and proactively optimize client performance across all metrics. Stay ahead of industry shifts—whether AI algorithm updates or competitor moves—by identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
4. Supporting Sales
Assist the sales team by quickly assessing prospective clients’ needs and crafting compelling, evidence-based strategic pitches. Early, sharp insights often secure new business.
5. Hands-On Strategic Work
Balance routine tasks (e.g., content updates, ad-hoc client queries) with deep dives (e.g., full-site technical SEO audits, CRO reviews). Maintain high standards across both types of work while managing time efficiently.
At Ellipsis, continuous improvement is core to your role. As a senior strategist, you’ll shape the team’s strategic playbook, tooling, and processes, ensuring they evolve alongside client needs. If you thrive on solving complex problems and delivering measurable results, this role could be ideal.
Requirements
Ellipsis seeks an experienced strategist capable of owning client accounts and making high-stakes decisions. Ideal candidates have:
- 4–5+ years of experience in SEO, organic search strategy, or a similar client-facing role, preferably in an agency or consultancy.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive clear recommendations from imperfect data.
- Hands-on experience with technical SEO audits and conversion rate optimization (CRO) is a plus.
- A foundational understanding of GEO and AI search, paired with curiosity and adaptability.
- Critical thinking to challenge flawed strategies or misaligned client requests.
- Process-oriented mindset to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements.
- Proficiency in remote collaboration tools (Basecamp, Google Meet, Slack, Email).
- Availability for meetings between 9am–5pm GMT, with occasional flexibility.
Soft skills include:
- Evidence-led communication: Articulate complex strategies clearly and persuasively, handling pushback constructively.
- Receptiveness to feedback: Embrace constructive criticism and iterate on work.
- High self-awareness and interpersonal skills: Build rapport with clients and teammates daily.
- Self-driven work ethic: Proactively manage projects to completion.
