Core Responsibilities
As a Senior Mortgage Funding Specialist, you will ensure mortgage loans close accurately, efficiently, and on time by:
- Managing loan file closing activities, including preparing and validating Closing Disclosures and closing packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and funding readiness.
- Responding to internal and external inquiries related to loan closing and funding activities, including handling complex or time-sensitive situations. Identifying, investigating, and resolving non-routine closing and funding issues, including discrepancies related to fees, documentation, and loan conditions.
- Applying regulatory, investor, and internal guidelines to ensure accurate disclosures, compliant closings, and funding standards are met.
- Maintaining and validating loan data and closing documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with system requirements.
- Managing an assigned closing pipeline by prioritizing workload, coordinating timelines, and ensuring loans close efficiently and on schedule.
- Supporting reporting and pipeline tracking efforts by maintaining accurate loan statuses and proactively identifying potential delays.
- Partnering with settlement agents, borrowers, loan officers, and internal teams to resolve complex loan scenarios and support successful loan closings.
- Ensuring adherence to regulatory, investor, and internal requirements while supporting audit readiness and maintaining high-quality documentation standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- A High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 4 or more years of experience in mortgage funding, loan closing activities, transaction processing, and issue resolution
- Understanding of mortgage closing and funding processes and demonstrated success managing complex transactions
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of mortgage loan closing and funding processes, including documentation review, funding requirements, and closing coordination.
- Understanding of regulatory and investor requirements that impact disclosure accuracy, closing compliance, and funding activities.
- Ability to identify and assess risks within the closing and funding process and resolve non-routine issues effectively.
- Comfort using systems, reporting tools, and loan platforms to monitor pipelines, track statuses, and address discrepancies.
- Clear and professional communication with borrowers, settlement agents, loan officers, and internal partners.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities and adapting to changing deadlines.
- Enjoyment in sharing knowledge and providing guidance to support team consistency and effectiveness.
