The Senior IT Engineer will advance A-LIGN’s security posture, lead complex technical projects, and improve the reliability and scalability of systems supporting a global workforce. This role requires expertise in Microsoft 365 security, systems integration, and automation to deliver practical solutions that reduce risk and strengthen business operations. Ideal for an experienced, hands-on engineer thriving in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end IT and security projects, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and documentation, maintaining project plans, timelines, and status reporting for IT leadership and stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and harden security across the Microsoft 365 E5 stack (Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview/Compliance, Intune), including detections, alert rules, and automated response playbooks with IT Security and MDR/SOC providers.
  • Improve Microsoft Secure Score, device compliance, and conditional access posture, driving remediation of findings with responsible IT teams.
  • Administer and enhance the M365 environment and business applications, including Workday, Zendesk, and collaboration tools.
  • Design and build integrations between systems like Workday, Salesforce, Entra ID, and M365 for identity lifecycle, provisioning, and data flow.
  • Partner with the SCALE team to architect scalable solutions using AI and integrations for business processes and workflows.
  • Automate IT and security processes using PowerShell, Power Automate, Graph API, and AI tooling.
  • Engineer and maintain device management standards, images, application packaging, and policy baselines in Intune for Windows and macOS.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Security to align IT systems with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other accreditation requirements, evaluating new software, integrations, and vendors.
  • Support incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing, including technical execution and documentation.
  • Produce and maintain technical design documents, implementation specs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Act as an escalation point and technical subject matter expert for IT Support and Systems Administration teams.
  • Contribute to day-to-day IT operations, including escalated tickets, troubleshooting, system maintenance, and administrative tasks.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors, recommending solutions that reduce risk, cost, and manual effort.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 4+ years in IT engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure roles supporting a global user base.
  • 2+ years leading IT or security projects, including planning, stakeholder management, and delivery of concurrent workstreams.
  • Experience delivering security-focused projects in a Microsoft 365 E5 environment.
  • Hands-on administration experience with M365, Entra ID, Intune/Endpoint Manager, Defender, Purview/Compliance, and Sentinel.
  • Experience integrating business systems and identity sources, such as Workday to Entra ID, including provisioning and lifecycle automation.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Graph API, and Power Automate, including AI-enabled solutions.
  • Working knowledge of security frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
  • Experience collaborating with MDR/SOC and external security partners.
  • Experience with Zendesk or comparable ticketing systems, and Copilot or AI tooling, is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and independent judgment.

Certifications:

  • Project management (PMP, CAPM) preferred.
  • Microsoft security (SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, MD-102) or CompTIA Security+ preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and project management skills.
  • Ability to translate framework requirements into clear, actionable technical requests.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage evidence deadlines across multiple audit cycles.
  • Excellent written communication for control narratives, evidence descriptions, and assessor responses.
  • Self-directed with strong follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience utilizing AI tools to automate manual tasks and streamline workflows.
  • Experience operating in PE-backed or high-growth environments preferred.
