IonQ’s newest generation of quantum computers, the IonQ Tempo, has achieved 20x performance results and accelerated innovation in drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, logistics, cybersecurity, and defense. In 2025, the company set a world record in quantum computing performance with 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity.
The role involves contributing to IonQ’s financial narrative through quarterly investor presentations, financial conferences, investor days, and Board materials. The ideal candidate combines 12+ years of experience in visual design, presentation design, or visual communication with a technical mindset, narrative and editorial instincts, and the ability to execute quickly in high-stakes environments.
Responsibilities:
Keynote Storytelling and Design
Craft story-driven, best-in-class presentations for the CFO and senior executives, ensuring clarity and persuasiveness for both financially and technically sophisticated audiences.
Executive-Level Collaboration
Partner closely with the CFO, Head of Investor Relations, and the IonQ Brand team. Present to and collaborate with senior executives, navigate feedback gracefully, and iterate quickly.
Data Visualization
Translate complex financial data and technical concepts into clean, compelling slides. Ensure charts and layouts make the point without unnecessary decoration, helping investors and analysts grasp technical roadmaps, performance metrics, and financials at a glance.
Technology and Financial Storytelling
Develop narratives connecting IonQ’s technology milestones to investor and analyst messaging. Quickly grasp unfamiliar technical content and distill it into meaningful, consumable visuals.
Investor Day and Event Design
Create cohesive experiences across all investor event touchpoints, including presentation content, invitations, emails, web and IR portal assets, signage, and on-site materials, adhering to IonQ’s brand standards.
Design Operations and Brand Standards
Build and maintain templates, chart libraries, and common systems to enable non-designers on the IR and Finance teams to produce on-brand materials independently.

Requirements:
- 12+ years of professional experience in visual design, presentation design, or visual communication in a fast-paced environment.
- A portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals—typography, layout, color sensibility—across presentation, digital, and print media, with the ability to articulate design rationale.
- Exceptional proficiency in PowerPoint presentation design. Mastery of Figma. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience presenting creative proposals and rationale to senior executives, and comfort navigating stakeholder feedback and ambiguity.

- Excellent time and project management skills, with the ability to triage competing priorities and handle high volume without sacrificing quality.
- Familiarity with AI principles for design, including prompting, efficiency, and responsible use.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting Investor Relations, corporate finance, or a public company’s earnings cycle.

- Experience with Claude Design, and demonstrated use of AI tools beyond image generation, such as accessibility checks, design variations, and efficiency tooling.
- Experience with design systems: production and maintenance of asset libraries and documentation.
- Strong editorial instinct, including the ability to write or refine headlines, captions, and short-form copy that strengthen the visual narrative.
- Executive presentation coaching experience, including tone, pace, scripting, and stage presence.
- Familiarity with web and UI/UX principles, including responsiveness and accessibility, and with CMS tools.
- Passion for emerging technology and financial communication.

IonQ is a leading developer of general-purpose quantum computing systems. Unlike competitors (like IBM or Google) that often use superconducting qubits, IonQ bets on 'Trapped Ion' technology, which uses individual charged atoms suspended in a vacuum as qubits. This approach is widely considered to offer superior stability (longer coherence times) and connectivity, making their systems less prone to errors. IonQ made history as the first pure-play quantum computing company to go public (NYSE: IONQ), and its quantum computers are the only ones available across all three major cloud platforms: Amazon Braket, Microsoft Azure Quantum, and Google Cloud.
