About the Role: Ethos is seeking an ambitious self-starter to join their Finance & Strategy team as the Senior Director, GTM. This role involves owning financial strategy and performance management for the GTM business, serving as a financial thought partner to leaders in Marketing, Product, and Sales. Key focus areas include GTM modeling, user acquisition, profitability, and new business evaluation. The Senior Director will also interface with external partners through Corporate Development (Corp Dev) or Business Development (BizDev) to support these objectives.
The ideal candidate is a data-driven finance leader with deep experience in consumer unit economics, scaling GTM businesses, and a willingness to dive into business data and operations. This role offers high visibility across the executive team and involves tackling the most complex challenges of a rapidly-scaling startup. The environment is fast-paced, analytically rigorous, mission-driven, and impact-oriented.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own financial planning and forecasting for the GTM business
- Drive efforts to serve new customer segments, launch new insurance products, and/or partnership offerings
- Apply business judgment and financial insights to drive decision-making related to unit economics, customer acquisition, operations, core business expansion, and new opportunities
- Improve the speed and efficiency of growth by collaborating closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams
- Apply a data-driven analytical approach to influence decision-making and support company leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives
- Develop and monitor critical financial performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including:
- 4+ years in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, strategic finance, or consulting (with material Corporate Due Diligence (CDD) or Private Equity experience)
- 6–8+ years in Strategic Finance, FP&A, or BizOps (with a material data/financial focus) roles at a Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) or Fintech company
- Deep expertise in GTM unit economics and growth efficiency metrics, including a strong understanding of acquisition funnels, cohort analysis, and Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)
- Ability to operate at both strategic and highly detailed levels
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Motivated self-starter with a track record of success and a proven ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks while hitting deadlines; desire to own and drive projects from Day 1
- Stellar academic record with a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
- SQL knowledge preferred
- Prior experience with Corporate Development (Corp Dev) or Business Development (BizDev) preferred
