About Oddball: Oddball is a premier, internationally recognized digital services pioneer, cloud infrastructure innovator, and civic technology leader on an absolute mission to improve the daily lives of millions of citizens by delivering world-class software solutions to the United States federal space. Operating under the core belief that the best digital products are engineered when teams deeply understand and value the mission they support, Oddball partners with major federal institutions and financial regulatory agencies to systematically modernize legacy technology stacks. Driven by an inclusive, high-accountability corporate culture, the organization unifies contemporary scalability, low-latency computing fields, and highly automated delivery mechanisms to transform complex public sector operations into resilient, transparent, and secure cloud environments confidently.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly sophisticated, automation-minded Senior DevOps Engineer to join our core global SEC program squad in a full-time remote capacity within the United States. In this high-leverage cloud infrastructure seat, you will claim individual technical accountability for optimizing, securing, and maintaining our central release management frameworks and deployment pipelines supporting a federal financial regulatory agency. Shifting completely away from repetitive manual environment configuration routines, you will act as a foundational driving force to embed automated testing, security tracking, and policy evaluations natively into our software lifecycle. This high-agency role demands a seasoned DevOps architect who thrives within a collaborative, cross-functional Agile matrix, demonstrates absolute data hygiene, and excels at bridging the gap between raw application development code and secure production scale.
Key Responsibilities
- CI/CD Delivery Pipeline Architecture: Design, author, implement, and continuously improve exhaustive continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines natively utilizing GitHub Actions to unblock program-wide development teams.
- AWS Cloud Infrastructure Governance: Manage, optimize, and secure scalable multi-tenant public cloud services and infrastructure environments natively running across the AWS portfolio.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Engineering: Code, refactor, and deploy modular, self-healing server blueprints and environment states using declarative definitions natively via Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Shift-Left Security Implementation: Embed automated source code scanning, real-time vulnerability policy checks, and statutory compliance validation layers directly into live delivery pipelines to protect code boundaries early.
- System Health and Telemetry Monitoring: Configure and monitor continuous production observability networks, tracking performance degradation metrics and security alerts using CloudWatch and related tooling.
- Developer Experience Optimization: Partner closely with cross-functional software and machine learning engineering cells to streamline application deployment workflows, isolate pipeline bottlenecks, and enhance developer velocity.
- Federal Regulatory Compliance Tracking: Align cloud configurations sequentially with strict federal data privacy guidelines, enforcing systems constraints to satisfy FISMA and NIST 800-53 security control frameworks.
- Automation Scripting and Interfacing: Write, test, and document clean integration scripts, background automation helpers, and deployment utilities using Python or Bash layouts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of verified professional history running advanced DevOps engineering, site reliability operations (SRE), cloud infrastructure development, or systems automation management.
- Proven commercial experience building, auditing, and maintaining complex automated CI/CD pipelines inside production-grade enterprise cloud clusters.
- Deep, authoritative technical command of building and scaling cloud instances natively within the AWS ecosystem.
- Hands-on operational experience managing architecture state definitions natively leveraging **Terraform** or CloudFormation schemas.
- Demonstrated proficiency coding production pipelines natively using **GitHub Actions** or similar continuous deployment tooling.
- Familiarity with container orchestration rules and containerized runtime environments, including **Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS**.
- Outstanding script development capabilities, highlighting a verified capacity to program tools using **Python** or Bash commands.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with a proven ability to translate complex cloud infrastructure adjustments into clear documentation for engineering stakeholders.
- Federal Background Clearance Authorization: Right to work legally within the United States. In alignment with federal contract parameters, candidates must hold U.S. citizenship and possess full readiness to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and/or security clearance.
- Location Context: Full-time remote parameters open exclusively to qualified cloud engineers base-stationed permanently anywhere within the United States to operate 100% from home under flexible layouts.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Direct domain background deploying cloud software configurations or data pipelines for federal financial regulatory systems, public sector networks, or highly regulated enterprise spaces.
- Prior practical familiarity navigating complex security audits under FISMA guidelines or NIST 800-53 statutory restrictions.
- A continuous personal passion for automating away repetitive developer tasks, manual data adjustments, and deployment friction points.
- Possession of accredited cloud certifications, such as a certified AWS DevOps Engineer or HashiCorp Terraform Associate mark.
What We Offer
- Highly Competitive U.S. Compensation Scale: An attractive full-time base salary structured transparently between $115,000 – $155,000 USD per year, calibrated precisely to reward your automation authority and infrastructure execution speed.
- The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and deploy the automated infrastructure frameworks modernizing critical digital systems for federal financial systems.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing an elite digital workplace with total scheduling trust and absolute location flexibility within the USA.
- Access to an annual stipend allocation to support residential workspace enhancements or continuing professional learning paths.
- A comprehensive benefits package option, including robust group medical, dental, and vision insurance care lines.
- Secure retirement planning provisions via a corporate-matched 401(k) plan infrastructure.
- Excellent life balance parameters, encompassing entirely flexible PTO structures and paid company holidays to recharge efficiently.
