Skimmer is on a mission: to modernize the pool and spa service, repair, and construction industry. We’re a private equity-backed company with 7000+ customers using Skimmer’s pool service platform to transform their businesses. But we’re not stopping there (there are over 70,000 pool service companies in this surprisingly large “niche” space).
Our customers love us almost as much as we love them (check out our reviews and our NPS score of 68!)
We are currently #615 on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies (#74 in Texas and #63 in Software!), on the Deloitte Fast 500, one of Built In Austin's Best Startups, ABJ’s 6th Fastest Growing Company, and most importantly one of Austin's Best Places for Working Parents for the last 5 years. We’re proud of the incredible company we’ve built, and we’re just getting started.
Our New Product Development Team is building a new product line on Skimmer’s platform, and the infrastructure underneath it doesn’t exist yet. That’s this job: the pipelines, the environments, and the monitoring that new product ships on. You’ll build it on the architecture our engineers already work in every day — so there’s plenty to design, and a foundation to design it on.
We’re looking for big thinkers with small egos, so let’s dive in!
Our Values: At Skimmer we:
- Realize our customers' success is our success.
- Build humble, diverse teams who have fun winning.
- Drive results with urgency.
- Earn trust through transparent communication.
Who are you? / About You:
Skimmer is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer — a platform engineer — to build and own the infrastructure behind our newest product line. You will report to our Chief Technology Officer and partner closely with our development, QA, and Product teams.
The New Product Development Team owns new businesses that are connected to Skimmer’s platform and mobile app. You will be responsible for creating much of the CI/CD pipelines for this new product using Skimmer’s architecture — so you get to decide how it gets built, deployed, and monitored, on a foundation that already runs at scale.
You are an experienced DevOps professional who thrives on building systems, automating workflows, and ensuring smooth, reliable deployments. You’re naturally curious and motivated — the kind of person who notices inefficiencies and digs in to improve them before anyone asks. You enjoy working in an environment where you can take ownership, explore new tools and practices, and see your work directly impact system performance and customer experience.
You will be joining a company with a collaborative culture, focus on customers, and emphasis on having a good time together!
What you'll do:
Infrastructure & Deployment
- Build and own the CI/CD pipelines for our new product line using Azure DevOps and related tools.
- Manage Azure App Services, Azure PostgreSQL Server, and related Azure resources using infrastructure as code leveraging Pulumi.
- Design deployment workflows for security, speed, and reliability from the start, and keep refining them as the product grows.
Monitoring & Security
- Stand up monitoring and alerting across applications and databases.
- Use metrics and telemetry to proactively identify performance issues and drive improvements.
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure applications are observable and secure.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and act on opportunities to reduce manual processes.
- Develop scripts, templates, and tools that improve developer experience.
- Prioritize technical improvements that enhance uptime, performance, and observability.
Collaboration & Culture
- Partner cross-functionally to align deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure goals with business objectives.
- Share best practices, document systems, and contribute to a culture of learning and curiosity.
Your Experience:
- Experience managing Azure environments, particularly VMs hosting Node.js, Azure PostgreSQL, Front Door, and related monitoring tools.
- Proven expertise in building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.
- Experience creating and refining applications and tools in Node, with an eye for performance and maintainability.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code and scripting. Bonus for direct experience with Pulumi.
- Outstanding ability to analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement lasting improvements.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Sentry, New Relic, or Datadog.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Benefits
- Competitive base pay + bonus potential
- Generous medical, dental, and vision plans (we pay 100% of your premium and 50% of your dependents’)
- Fantastic culture with a very strong eNPS- we work hard, celebrate wins, and learn as we go to always be improving to benefit our customers.
- Immediate access to 401(k) with company match
- Flexible PTO (MINIMUM of 10 days required every year)
- 12 weeks paid parental leave for birthing parent, 6 weeks paid leave for supporting partner
- Remote work friendly
- Comprehensive learning and development budget
- A manager dedicated to your development

Skimmer
View Company ProfileSkimmer (operating under getskimmer.com, legally Skimmer, Inc.) is the leading enterprise-grade vertical field service management (FSM) software platform and operational engine engineered to modernize, digitize, and scale the residential and commercial swimming pool and spa service industry. Founded in 2014 by veteran developer Ron Hash, the corporation dismantled historical pool route friction—where service providers relied heavily on error-prone paper logging, unoptimized driving sequences, unbilled chemical expenses, and manual customer updates—by launching a cloud-native, offline-capable mobile and web ecosystem. Moving far beyond basic scheduling spreadsheets, Skimmer's comprehensive operational cockpit natively unifies dynamic drag-and-drop dispatching, automated intelligent route optimization, real-time technician GPS tracking, recurring work order management, customizable service checklists, and Orenda-powered LSI (Langelier Saturation Index) water chemistry calculators. To accelerate cash flow mechanics for pool operators, the platform integrates a robust financial infrastructure that automates bulk invoice generation derived from completed field data, supports recurring AutoPay setups, enables credit card surcharging to offset processing friction, and features seamless real-time syncing loops to QuickBooks Online. Driven by explosive cross-product adoption and exceptional user retention, the hyper-growth vertical SaaS provider secured a historic $74 million growth equity financing round in October 2024 spearheaded by marquee software investor Mainsail Partners, lifting its total institutional backing to over $84 million. Under the executive leadership of CEO Jack Nelson, the enterprise captured major industry accolades by ranking among the top 1,000 fastest-growing private entities on the 2025 Inc. 5000 and the 2025 Deloitte Technology Fast 500. Powering operations for over 30,000 pool service professionals across more than 900,000 pools in North America, the company continues to expand its addressable footprint via robust developer APIs and strategic distribution alliances with market leaders like Heritage Pool Supply Group. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Skimmer stands as the definitive technological standard for modern field service operations—replacing outdated operational chaos with real-time data streaming, leakproof inventory tracking, and predictable business enablement.
