Senior Counsel, Employment & Compliance
Job Description
We are hiring a Senior Counsel to anchor our employment and compliance work while flexing across the broader legal remit as business needs evolve. This role is designed for an attorney with five years of overall legal experience, including at least two years of meaningful employment law experience, who is eager to develop broad in-house judgment rather than remain narrowly specialized.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to our People team and take meaningful ownership of employment counseling, investigations, policies, compliance, and related matters. Once the employment portfolio is well managed, you may also support basic corporate governance and other legal department priorities. You will use AI thoughtfully to accelerate your work while maintaining the accuracy, judgment, confidentiality, and accountability expected of legal counsel.
This role is employment-focused, but it is designed for an attorney who wants to grow as a broad in-house counselor. If you want meaningful ownership, direct business partnership, and the opportunity to deepen your employment expertise while exercising sound legal judgment, this may be the right fit.
You Will
- Own day-to-day employment law matters: Advise on workplace policies, performance management, investigations, leave and accommodation questions, wage-and-hour issues, employee relations, and separations across our jurisdictions, including coordination with local counsel where appropriate.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment documents. Prepare offer letters, separation and settlement agreements, employment-related memos, and local-counsel engagement agreements; respond to employment-related subpoenas and personnel file requests.
- Build and maintain compliance infrastructure: Design and operate practical processes for regulatory monitoring, training, policy review, audits, investigations, and compliance reporting so the company can identify and address obligations proactively.
- Support corporate governance: Assist with subsidiary maintenance, director and officer matters, board and committee materials, corporate records, and other governance work.
- Flex across the broader legal remit: Take on matters in commercial, privacy, product, IP, litigation, and other areas as workload and business priorities evolve, using AI-assisted research and established escalation practices to get up to speed quickly and responsibly.
- Use AI as a core tool, not an experiment: Apply AI tools to legal research, drafting, issue spotting, analysis, and knowledge management; validate outputs; protect confidential information; and help refine the team’s AI-enabled workflows.
- Exercise sound judgment and know when to escalate: Identify when a matter requires a specialist colleague, a second legal review, or outside counsel, and frame the issue clearly so the right person can act efficiently.
- Partner directly with the business: Work directly with People, Finance, Sales, Product, Security, and other stakeholders as a trusted advisor, translating legal risk into practical recommendations the business can act on.
- Build for scale: Create scalable playbooks, templates, guidance, and processes that improve consistency, speed, and ownership across the organization.
You Have
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 4-5 years of relevant legal experience in-house, in private practice, or a combination of both.
- At least 2 years of meaningful employment law experience, including advising on employee relations, workplace policies, investigations, accommodations or leave, performance management, or separations.
- Experience supporting employment compliance, policies, training, investigations, audits, or related operational processes.
- Demonstrated comfort working outside a narrow specialty and developing a practical working knowledge of unfamiliar legal issues.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools for legal research, drafting, or analysis, with a clear approach to verification, confidentiality, and responsible reliance on AI-assisted output.
- Experience supporting a global workforce or coordinating multi-jurisdictional employment matters, including work involving the UK or India.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate legal risk into clear, actionable business advice.
- Sound judgment about risk, ownership, and escalation, including knowing when a matter needs another set of eyes or specialist support.
- A builder’s mindset, strong follow-through, and comfort making progress in an environment where priorities and assignments may evolve.
Nice to Have
- Prior in-house experience, particularly at a high-growth, PE-backed, VC-backed, or B2B SaaS company.
- Experience with, or interest in learning, routine corporate governance or subsidiary management.
- Familiarity with privacy, data protection, AI governance, or technology-related compliance.
- Experience developing playbooks, knowledge systems, technology-enabled workflows, or other scalable legal processes.

Founded in 2013, the company is on a mission to eliminate the guesswork from B2B go-to-market strategies by replacing fragmented data with highly predictive, actionable intelligence. Under the hood, 6sense ingests massive amounts of intent data from across the web, deanonymizes hidden website traffic, and utilizes advanced machine learning to predict exactly which accounts are in-market to buy. It then unifies revenue teams—marketing, sales, and operations—around a single source of truth, empowering them to engage the right buyers with highly personalized campaigns at the exact right moment. Their primary target audience spans enterprise and fast-growing mid-market B2B organizations looking to maximize their pipeline generation and predictably accelerate revenue growth. What sets 6sense apart in the crowded RevTech space is its unparalleled ability to illuminate the "Dark Funnel"—uncovering the hidden, anonymous research phase of the buyer's journey long before a prospect ever fills out a contact form or talks to a sales rep.
