About Goods & Services: Goods & Services is a premier, internationally recognized product design pioneer, enterprise software innovator, and global systems engineering leader on an absolute mission to solve mission-critical challenges for some of the world’s largest organizations. Specializing in highly regulated sectors—explicitly including life sciences, laboratory diagnostics, and enterprise financial services—the company infuses a design-led approach to deploy cutting-edge capabilities across advanced artificial intelligence, big data systems, and complex hardware engineering. Headquartered in the United States and operating regional nearshore development centers across Mexico and the United Kingdom, Goods & Services combines its global footprint with the speed, technical velocity, and cultural alignment that Fortune 500 clients demand. The organization provides high-agency systems builders with an uncompromised remote canvas to tackle multi-tenant software modernizations and engineer scalable backend services safely across distributed corporate environments.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Senior C# Backend Engineer to join our core centralized Engineering team in a full-time remote capacity across the United States, with a strategic project footprint based in Loveland, Colorado. In this high-impact backend engineering seat, you will step up to claim individual strategic accountability for leading workflow orchestration, complex state management systems, and backend service design. Shifting completely away from routine script editing or basic web views, you will own the end-to-end backend processes that drive analyzer operations within our flagship ECL platform. This position requires an enterprise software veteran with 5+ years of professional C# / .NET history who refactors legacy monolith logic fluidly, structures event-driven messaging networks smoothly under regulated parameters, and collaborates alongside integration engineers to preserve structural workflow continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Workflow Logic Development: Design, build, and optimize backend analyzer workflow structures inside the ECL platform, taking complete programmatic ownership of end-to-end device execution paths natively utilizing Backend code best practices.
  • State Machine and Sequencing Orchestration: Program, extend, and govern automated workflow orchestration models, precisely managing analyzer state transitions, complex operational sequencing, and live runtime event handling.
  • Monolith Modernization and Repackaging: Support the central Data Control Unit (DCU) modernization campaign, identifying legacy runtime workflows to systematically extract and repackage them into clean, reusable .NET core libraries.
  • Analyzer Communications Engineering: Partner peer-to-peer alongside the Analyzer Integration Engineer to configure, optimize, and maintain the underlying hardware communication layer connecting ECL software with remote laboratory analyzers.
  • Multi-Tenant System Knowledge Preservation: Lead technical deep-dives and participate in structured knowledge-transfer sessions from departing engineering resources to ensure the absolute continuity of historical underdocumented logic behaviors.
  • Event-Driven Messaging Governance: Architect and implement secure inter-service communication parameters, building out scalable messaging networks natively using **DevOps** patterns and **Azure Service Bus** systems.
  • Legacy Codebase Interoperability and Auditing: Maintain and modify active production systems safely, navigating legacy .NET Framework 4.x codebases and modernizing them into current runtime layers without interrupting live enterprise services.
  • Cross-Functional Quality Assurance Alignment: Collaborate closely alongside QA automation engineering cells to verify absolute workflow correctness, validating runtime sequencing across divergent analyzer models and edge cases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of verified professional history running advanced C# backend software engineering, server-side system programming, enterprise .NET application development, or technical cloud consulting.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of workflow execution models, process sequencing frameworks, and design patterns explicitly covering software state machines.
  • Expert-tier programming proficiency building scalable server architectures, writing object-oriented data structures, and designing API endpoints natively utilizing Backend .NET utilities.
  • Practical operational familiarity configuring asynchronous messaging grids, decoupling application logic blocks, and tracking deployment streams natively leveraging DevOps principles (ideally using Azure cloud platforms).
  • Proven capability to work productively within, around, and through inherited or underdocumented enterprise-scale legacy codebases without introducing production regressions.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics in business-fluent English, ensuring seamless alignment with cross-functional infrastructure, integration, and QA squads.
  • Location Context: Position open to qualified C# engineers base-stationed permanently and resident within the **United States** to execute backend systems development under a flexible 100% remote home-office layout.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior commercial backend programming history operating within a life sciences firm, laboratory information management systems (LIMS) provider, medical device manufacturer, or automated instrument integration cell.
  • Hands-on operational familiarity navigating historical legacy web frameworks, highlighting targeted background executing migration patterns from .NET Framework 4.x over to modern .NET Core.
  • Familiarity with event-driven message queuing ecosystems, showing experience utilizing **Azure Service Bus**, RabbitMQ, or Apache Kafka.
  • An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in a collaborative team approach, excellent technical problem-solving traits, and a passion for establishing structure in complex engineering spaces.

What We Offer

  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and code-engineer the foundational workflow orchestration engines and .NET libraries power-routing analyzer systems for world-class life science organizations.
  • Highly competitive, capability-benchmarked full-time baseline salary packages calibrated precisely to evaluate and reward your C# engineering authority, state machine craft, and modernization velocity.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing an elite digital workplace, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction across America.
  • Immediate integration into a design-led engineering enterprise that maintains a highly efficient, nearshore global footprint across Mexico and the United Kingdom.
  • Continuous skill acceleration pathways across modern cross-platform .NET migration models, hardware-to-software API connectivity patterns, and cloud-native event-driven architectures.
