An early-stage climate tech SaaS company is looking for a Senior AI Product Engineer to own end-to-end product feature delivery for its real-time carbon footprint and lifecycle assessment software.
The company is seed-stage, VC-backed, and intentionally small — a lean, fully remote team of engineers split across Europe and the Americas, with no formal management hierarchy. They serve enterprise manufacturing clients and have demonstrated strong commercial traction, and are now expanding their engineering bench to keep pace with growing customer demand.
This role sits at the center of the product: you'll take loosely defined business outcomes and independently define, build, and ship the technical solution, working across the full stack as needed. You'll integrate AI/LLM tools into your workflow to accelerate delivery, and you'll collaborate async-first across US and European hours. Success means shipping meaningful features with minimal oversight while keeping the team informed through clear, proactive communication.
Core Responsibilities
Product Engineering & Feature Development
- Own end-to-end delivery of product features, from ambiguous outcome to production-ready code
- Write clean, scalable, production-grade code across the stack as needed
- Integrate AI/LLM tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) to accelerate development cycles
- Build features supporting real-time, component-level data processing and reporting
Product Thinking & Outcome Definition
- Translate high-level business outcomes into concrete technical approaches and execution plans
- Proactively identify product direction, user needs, and feature priorities without waiting on task assignment
- Contribute ideas to the product roadmap, balancing customer impact with engineering feasibility
- Define and track success criteria for your own work against business outcomes
Async Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate progress, blockers, and decisions clearly and proactively in a fully remote, async-first environment
- Collaborate daily with the Europe-based engineering team across timezone boundaries
- Document technical decisions and share context broadly to keep the team aligned without relying on meetings
Customer & Business Context Integration
- Maintain awareness of how engineering work impacts enterprise customer outcomes
- Coordinate with US-based stakeholders during overlapping hours on business priorities
- Participate in technical evaluations or trial periods to validate fit
Requirements
Must-Have
- 5–10 years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior or founding-engineer capacity
- Demonstrated track record independently owning features end-to-end — from ambiguous requirements to production deployment — at an early-stage (seed–Series B) company
- Full-stack development experience with the ability to work across the stack as needed (specific tech stack to be confirmed during interviews)
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) into daily engineering work
- Experience working in fully remote, distributed engineering teams using async-first documentation and communication practices
- Availability to work hours overlapping both US/Austin afternoons and CET mornings (minimum 4-hour daily overlap with the European team)
- English proficiency at C1+ (CEFR)
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in climate tech, carbon accounting, lifecycle assessment (LCA), or electronics/supply chain software
- Prior experience as a founding engineer or early technical hire (pre-Series A)
- Familiarity with enterprise B2B SaaS product development
- Experience contributing to product roadmap or strategy decisions beyond pure execution
