Position Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and development-oriented Senior AI Agent Engineer to lead the architecture, implementation, and quality optimization of our autonomous scheduling agent, Manny, under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open across the United States. In this high-leverage applied artificial intelligence seat, you will hold absolute technical ownership over designing and evolving multi-node graph frameworks, tool surfaces, and production evaluation loops. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated administrative data entry logs, basic prompt configurations, or generic helpdesk support ticketing, you will operate an active cross-provider LLM orchestration, Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool routing, and automated trace evaluation laboratory. Reporting directly to the CTO and partnering close-knit neben the Lead AI Engineer, you will blend a deep software engineering foundation with a passionate focus on behavior reliability and user impact. This position requires an engineering authority with 4+ years of professional software history who handles algorithmic logic fluidly natively using AI Engineer, Prompt Engineering, and Python Scripting primitives, enforces rigorous code-sandboxing safety nets, and optimizes streaming interservice communications independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Agent Architecture & Graph Governance: Architect, expand, and maintain Manny’s core multi-node control logic, optimizing the ReAct loop, conditional routing networks, and streaming responses natively utilizing AI Engineer best practices.
- Tool Integration & MCP Instrumentation: Extend the agent’s functional tool surface area by developing and managing an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server connecting Manny to Planera’s core backend scheduling engines.
- Production-Grade Code Customization: Formulate, scale, and optimize high-concurrency microservices, state machines, and relational storage paths natively deploying Python Scripting models.
- Advanced Prompt Engineering Control: Program, refine, and secure complex prompt structures to shape model behavior reliably, managing token allocation budgets and optimizing multi-tier prompt caching systems natively leveraging Prompt Engineering rules.
- Automated Evaluation Loop Design: Build and own the end-to-end evaluation lifecycle by creating snapshot-based replay utilities, golden datasets, and both offline and online quality telemetry arrays.
- Multi-Provider LLM Telemetry Triage: Integrate and fine-tune leading frontier language models (including Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google), systematically balancing response quality against latency and financial cost.
- Observability and Runtime Diagnostics: Implement comprehensive tracing, telemetry metrics, and structured logging infrastructures across distributed workflows using enterprise debugging layers like LangSmith.
- Sandboxed Execution Control: Architect secure, sandboxed runtimes to execute model-generated code blocks safely while mitigating side effects and unauthorized data mutations across backend service layers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Possess a formal Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a matching quantitative technical discipline (or verified equivalent practical history).
- A minimum of 4+ years of proven, successful professional software engineering experience, with a documented history building and deploying production-ready LLM systems and feature pipelines.
- Expert Agentic Systems Command: Meticulous hands-on track record designing and launching advanced autonomous agents, function-calling schemas, and multi-step tool-use graphs natively inside modern orchestration frameworks (specifically LangChain and LangGraph).
- Production-grade programming mastery in Python building resilient services, with a comprehensive grasp of web protocols, streaming APIs (websockets, Server-Sent Events/SSE), and distributed data architectures.
- Practical data-literacy utilizing advanced trace-debugging toolsets, model testing applications, and tracking performance variables to catch code regressions under pressure.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and textual presentation communication strengths in English, with a product-oriented mindset focused on pragmatic technical tradeoffs and high user impact.
- Location Context: Position operates under remote guidelines open exclusively to qualified full-stack AI agent engineers residing permanently within the United States.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior platform or consulting history building automated workflows natively in Go (Golang), with experience managing distributed database infrastructures using MongoDB and Redis.
- Direct operational alignment within construction tech, proptech, algorithmic project scheduling, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Familiarity with containerization tools, declarative infrastructure as code setup (Terraform), and cloud automation clusters (AWS or GCP).
