Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
As Salesforce Architect, you will be the technical backbone of Marqeta's Business Systems team, a lean, high-impact group that serves as the internal Salesforce platform team for Go-To-Market (GTM), Product Support, and Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC). This is a heavily hands-on lead individual contributor role, you will be writing code, configuring the platform, and directly solving hard technical and business problems, not just producing designs for others to build.
We are looking for someone who has genuinely operated as an architect, owning architecture decisions, tradeoffs, and their consequences for at least 2 years, not an engineer aspiring to grow into the title. You will set the architectural direction for our Salesforce platform, conduct code reviews, lead architecture and design sessions, build and maintain the technical backlog, proactively identify gaps in systems and processes, and independently drive solutions to completion. You will also be a hands-on builder: configuring, coding, and deploying complex solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and our ongoing migration from CPQ to Revenue Cloud. You will drive our Agentforce and AI strategy, own integrations with critical systems like Ironclad, Intacct, and the broader GTM toolchain, and play a lead role in ongoing security hardening of the Salesforce org.
Your work will directly support strategic company-wide initiatives, improve customer experience, and increase productivity for internal users across GTM, support, and compliance functions.
The Impact You'll Have
Architecture & Design
- Own end-to-end Salesforce architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Revenue Cloud (including our active CPQ → Revenue Cloud migration)
- Lead architecture and design sessions, producing clear design documents, solution options, and tradeoff analyses
- Author and maintain coding and design standards for SFDC and ecosystem applications.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce engineering best practices, security standards, and declarative-first design principles
- Build and maintain the technical backlog—translating platform observations, stakeholder needs, and audit findings into well-scoped engineering work
- Proactively identify gaps in system design, data integrity, automation, and integrations; propose and deliver solutions before they become incidents
- Conduct regular Org Health Assessments and define a continuous improvement roadmap for platform quality, security, and performance
- Own Salesforce release management pipeline, sandbox strategy, source code control, CI/CD tooling and assessment ensuring clean, auditable deployments
Development & Delivery
- Design, build, test, and deploy solutions in an Agile framework using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, REST/SOAP APIs, and platform events
- Lead the technical design and implementation of Agentforce and AI-powered automation across GTM, customer support, and compliance workflows
- Design and build integrations with internal and external systems, including Ironclad (CLM), Snowflake, and other GTM/RevOps tooling
- Define testing strategy, write test scripts, and execute tests to meet quality and coverage standards across releases
- Maintain high sprint velocity while upholding code quality and documentation standards
Security & Platform Hardening
- Own hands-on remediation of Salesforce security findings across the full spectrum, session/certificate hardening, sharing model and default access control fixes, data exposure and classification gaps, public link/OAuth and connected app governance, and secure-coding fixes (SOQL injection, XSS, hardcoded credentials, sharing violations) surfaced by code scans
- Leverage Salesforce Shield Event Monitoring to capture and analyze login, API, and transaction logs moving from passive log collection to proactive threat detection, anomaly alerts, and audit-ready reporting
- Design for appropriate data classification, access controls, and auditability across compliance-critical Salesforce objects
- Evaluate and implement platform monitoring/SSPM tooling recommendations, working cross-functionally with security and compliance stakeholders
- Implement and maintain the org's backup and recovery solution including configuring backup schedules, monitoring job health, and running restore/recovery procedures when needed
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers on the Business Systems team
- Partner with the Engineering Manager to scope, estimate, and prioritize platform work
- Translate complex business requirements from GTM, LRC, and Product Support into well-architected, scalable Salesforce solutions
- Communicate technical tradeoffs and architecture decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Lead stakeholder demos and participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
Who You Are
- 10+ years of Salesforce technical experience spanning development, configuration and architecture, including at least 2 years functioning in an actual Architect capacity with a strong, defensible point of view on technical direction (owning architecture decisions and their outcomes)
- Deep hands-on experience with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud
- Experience with Revenue Cloud or a strong CPQ background with a demonstrated path toward Revenue Cloud migration work
- Proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, REST/SOAP APIs, and platform events
- Direct experience leading or heavily contributing to a Salesforce security hardening effort
- Proven experience conducting code reviews and enforcing engineering best practices on a platform team
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage a technical backlog translating org health findings, stakeholder requests, and architectural gaps into actionable engineering work
- Experience proactively identifying system and process gaps and driving solutions to completion without requiring explicit direction
- Experience architecting and building integrations with external systems (CLM, ERP, data platforms, or similar)
- Familiarity with Agentforce, Einstein AI, or other Salesforce AI/automation capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage credibly with both engineers and senior business stakeholders
- Ability to reliably prioritize and complete work independently with minimal supervision
Nice-To-Haves
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Application/System Architect credentials or equivalent demonstrated architect-level experience
- Experience with SSPM/security monitoring tooling (e.g. Falcon Shield, Reco) or Salesforce Shield (Event Monitoring, Field Audit Trail)
- Salesforce Revenue Cloud or CPQ Specialist certification
- Experience with Ironclad or other CLM platforms
- Experience with Tableau, Snowflake, Looker, or similar data platforms in a Salesforce integration context

Marqeta
View Company ProfileMarqeta is the world’s first open API modern card issuing platform. Before Marqeta, if a company wanted to issue a credit or debit card to its customers or employees, they had to work with legacy banks, which was a slow, rigid, and painful process. Marqeta changed everything by allowing developers to create physical, virtual, and tokenized cards instantly using code. They are the 'engine' behind giants like Uber (for driver payouts), DoorDash (for Dasher cards), Instacart, and Square (Cash App), enabling them to control exactly how, when, and where a transaction is approved.
