About EngFlow: EngFlow is a premier, internationally recognized developer velocity pioneer, cloud-native build infrastructure innovator, and enterprise software performance leader on an absolute mission to accelerate software builds and tests for engineering teams worldwide. Founded by the key creators and core contributors of the Bazel open-source build system, EngFlow’s state-of-the-art cloud-based distributed service optimizes developer workflows through remote execution and advanced caching. By speeding up build loops by a factor of 10 or more, the platform significantly enhances productivity and code deployment quality. Trusted by global technology leaders including Snap, Fivetran, and Brave, the company provides its engineering and sales units with a high-trust remote environment. EngFlow offers technical trail-blazers an uncompromised canvas to shape next-generation infrastructure tools and contribute directly to open-source communities safely across global networks.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Sales Engineer to join our core centralized Sales division in a full-time remote capacity restricted to candidates resident in Germany or Amsterdam (EMEA region). Operating at the vital intersection of enterprise sales development and deep systems engineering, you will claim individual strategic accountability for driving pre-sales support campaigns, leading technical discovery, and broadening our global addressable market. Shifting completely away from standard pitch loops or passive account management, you will serve as the premier domain expert on build technologies, remote execution, and caching architectures. This position requires an engineering-minded sales professional with 4+ years of pre-sales history and hands-on practical experience working with Bazel who designs complex cloud integration patterns fluidly, codes lead-generation prototype utilities smoothly, and aligns technical capabilities with corporate business outcomes under compressed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Pre-Sales Leadership: Serve as the premier technical domain authority on Build Solutions (such as Bazel and Chromium) for the core sales unit and high-value enterprise prospect networks.
  • Automated Build Platform Governance: Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot EngFlow’s distributed software engines, optimization layers, and observability platforms natively utilizing DevOps build system best practices.
  • Distributed Cloud Solution Engineering: Provide architectural guidance and structural pre-sales support to clients navigating complex multi-tenant cloud architectures natively leveraging Backend code principles across AWS and GCP infrastructures.
  • Value Proposition Articulation: Communicate EngFlow’s deep underlying technology, caching advantages, and economic business value confidently to both technical leads and non-technical executive stakeholders at all levels.
  • Pre-Sales Technical Outreach and Lead Generation: Engage proactively with prospective engineering customers within key community hubs, including LinkedIn, Bazel Slack channels, and GitHub, to isolate net-new pipeline channels.
  • Prototyping and Utility Scripting: Code and maintain custom software prototypes, evaluation tools, and sample integrations to reduce technical time-to-value indicators during active proof-of-concepts.
  • Open-Source Community Contribution: Partner directly alongside the original creators of Bazel, contributing upstream code lines to Bazel and parallel open-source projects to keep product lines optimized.
  • Strategic Customer Success Mapping: Foster a feedback-rich client relationship lifecycle, channeling localized technical requirements and field anomalies directly into internal R&D cells to direct product development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of verified professional history running advanced sales engineering, technical pre-sales consulting, systems solutions architecture, developer infrastructure engineering, or full-stack DevOps management.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of distributed computing environments, remote execution mechanisms, caching layers, and high-throughput scheduling platforms.
  • Expert-tier, hands-on production experience configuring, debugging, and maintaining complex project compilation layers natively utilizing **Bazel** build systems.
  • Practical software development proficiency, showing a robust understanding of object-oriented or functional programming concepts, version control tracks, and continuous integration loops natively leveraging DevOps pipelines.
  • Strong capabilities configuring application services, network routes, and access permissions safely inside public clouds natively using Backend tools (explicitly covering AWS or GCP).
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation communication traits in business-fluent English, with a demonstrated capability to break open highly abstract infrastructure frameworks within technical environments.
  • Location Context and Travel: Position open exclusively to qualified specialists based permanently and resident within **Germany or Amsterdam**, with the uncompromised readiness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally for customer engagements.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior commercial sales engineering or infrastructure development history operating within a fast-growing developer platform provider, high-scale PaaS startup, or global open-source technology cell.
  • Familiarity with alternative compilation structures, automated software packaging frameworks, or large-scale monorepo management setups (e.g., Chromium architecture).
  • An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in technical curiosity, a team-oriented mindset, and an execution focus that thrives on solving multi-layered enterprise deployment problems.

What We Offer

  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and code-shape the pre-sales solutions and distributed build architectures power-routing developer velocity for hundreds of progressive global firms.
  • Highly competitive full-time baseline compensation packages calibrated precisely to evaluate your pre-sales authority, supplemented immediately by attractive performance-linked commission scales.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing an elite digital workplace, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction from any location within Germany or Amsterdam.
  • Immediate eligibility to enroll in comprehensive corporate protection benefits, including premium medical, dental, and vision insurance alongside regional 401(k) or pension options.
  • Access to exceptional family support and vacation systems, including paid parental leave frameworks and generous vacation time off policies to preserve health.
  • Elite remote team cultural calibration, featuring fully-funded travel to exciting destinations throughout the world multiple times a year for in-person offsites, coupled with fun team events like escape rooms, chocolate, whisky, and tea tastings.
