Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Roving Marine Safety Auditor to join our shipping client’s core centralized Operations collective in a full-time remote and travel capacity across India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar. Functioning as the definitive onboard cybersecurity and physical safety subject matter expert for our client’s global merchant fleet, you will step up to claim individual strategic and operational accountability for conducting rigorous, high-fidelity safety audits and shipboard inspections. Shifting completely away from routine shore-side clerical filing, passive document checking, or monotone administrative tracking, you will operate as a principal maritime defense architect—traveling directly to diverse vessel environments to evaluate, document, and harden structural operations. This position requires a blue-water maritime veteran holding a minimum Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 2 or above who audits multi-tenant vessel systems fluidly natively using Research safety assessment protocols, coordinates complex fleet correction timelines smoothly natively using Project Management paradigms, and commands deep international regulatory knowledge confidently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Onboard Marine Safety Auditing: Lead, schedule, and execute thorough physical and logical marine safety audits onboard regional and international vessels, meticulously verifying total alignment with international regimes and corporate policies cleanly natively utilizing Research audit parameters.
  • Risk and Hazard Isolation: Inspect active vessel spaces to identify operational non-compliances, material hazards, unsafe technical habits, and crew procedural gaps, establishing structural risk-mitigation vectors before incidents occur.
  • Granular Technical Report Engineering: Write, refine, and compile comprehensive, scannable audit reports and formal analytical tracking logs, detailing evidence-backed recommendations for corrective actions and follow-up validation.
  • Shipboard Crew Consultative Partnership: Partner in lockstep with Master captains, Chief Engineers, and shipboard officers to promote safety-first operational habits, interpret abstract statutory frameworks, and implement audit recommendations smoothly natively leveraging Project Management guidelines.
  • Regulatory Alignment Maintenance: Track, monitor, and research evolving international maritime standards, ensuring corporate audit rules reflect the latest regulatory criteria across SOLAS, IMO conventions, and the ISM Code.
  • Safety Culture Training Acceleration: Formulate, deliver, and support localized shipboard training initiatives and company-wide safety awareness programs to drive continuous operational improvement across the global fleet.
  • Data Registry and Document Governance: Maintain uncompromised accuracy across all historical digital audit records, tracking schemas, and jurisdictional certificates, ensuring all filings are submitted securely on time.
  • Asynchronous Cross-Border Mobility: Transition seamlessly between virtual home-office administrative analysis and high-frequency active travel deployment loops across multiple international maritime hubs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Mandatory Professional Credential: Possession of a valid, legally verified Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 2 or above in Nautical Studies from an internationally recognized maritime authority.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of international maritime safety regulations, including extensive operational fluency across SOLAS conventions, IMO mandates, and ISM Code frameworks.
  • Proven professional history running advanced shipboard safety inspections, nautical quality assurance auditing, technical maritime project scoping, or marine risk management consulting.
  • Expert-tier capability tracing shipboard non-conformances, evaluating crew emergency readiness, and mapping safety metrics natively utilizing Research compliance strategies.
  • Practical operational familiarity designing corrective action plans, monitoring multi-site field tasks, and handling resource trackers natively using Project Management guidelines (specifically requiring strong report-writing and visualization skills).
  • Extensive Field Mobility Requirement: Complete operational readiness and willingness to travel extensively between 60% and 70% of your professional schedule, including boarding vessels and staying onboard during audit runs.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication attributes in business-fluent English, enabling flawless technical collaboration with international crew members and shore managers.
  • Location Context: Position structured as a work-from-home (WFH) contract open exclusively to qualified maritime experts based permanently and resident within **India**, **Malaysia** (Kuala Lumpur), **Singapore**, **Thailand**, **the Philippines**, or **Myanmar**. Candidates will be base-stationed in their designated home countries when not traveling for active vessel assignments.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Possession of industry-vetted safety auditor certifications, such as an ISO 19011 Lead Auditor badge, NEBOSH International General Certificate, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Prior commercial auditing history operating explicitly inside hyper-growth liquefied gas transport, complex chemical tankers, multi-tenant container fleets, or large-scale offshore support platforms.
  • An outcome-driven personal philosophy rooted in high attention to analytical detail, strong problem-solving traits under high-pressure conditions, and an uncompromised passion for embedding world-class safety cultures at sea.

What We Offer

  • International Competitive Maritime Blueprint: An highly attractive full-time base contractor compensation package tailored precisely to evaluate your nautical engineering authority, auditing craftsmanship, and field travel velocity.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, shape, and engine-manage the safety audit models protecting crew lives and vessel integrity across a modern global fleet.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering an elite virtual workspace model when base-stationed in your home country, with comprehensive corporate logistics, flight coordination, and onboard housing covered during roving assignments.
  • Access to elite professional and technical enrichment, working inside an inclusive, collaborative, and rewarding corporate culture designed to support continuous professional development.
