The Role
As our Robotics Lead, you are presented with a unique and exhilarating challenge: to lead and expand our Robotics Engineering team that is developing next-generation industrial robot arm control and vision-first manipulation algorithms. Your deep understanding of the technology stack will enable you to push the boundaries of product capabilities. Meanwhile, your experience in building and managing high-performance teams—especially in fast-scaling startups—will enable you to expand the Robotics team and increase its capacity while maintaining top-tier roadmap implementation efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Build and scale an agile, high-performing robotics team, leveraging your experience at fast-growing startups or high-growth established robotics companies.
Translate high-level company vision and strategy into a well-defined technology and team growth roadmap, ensuring our robotics core remains robust, reliable, and serves as the backbone for all other product areas (Perception, Embodiment, etc.).
Own risk management, development prioritization, and roadmap execution for the robotics domain, balancing quick iteration with sustainable long-term development.
Work alongside tech leads to define the architecture and evolution of our robotics tech stack including robot control and planning in ROS 2; collision-free path planning and inverse kinematics; camera-based manipulation; simulation-to-reality pipelines using Isaac Sim; driver development; and higher-level robot behaviors.
Cultivate a high-performance, high quality culture that values action, results, and continuous improvement while ensuring your team’s growth in both capacity and capability.
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration, especially with AI, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams, to build end-to-end robotic solutions that meet demanding performance and reliability requirements.
Who You Are
An accomplished roboticist with 10+ years of leadership experience in robotics fields, including control theory, kinematics, real-time feedback loops, and robust industrial systems.
A proven leader of teams of 15+ engineers, ideally in a high-growth startup environment or high-growth industrial robotics companies.
Hands-on and deeply knowledgeable in robot control, simulation, vision, manipulation, path planning, and real-time system development.
Expert in ROS 2, Python and C++, capable of writing clean, self-explanatory code that stands up in production environments.
A mentor who inspires excellence, leveraging your leadership experience to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
A clear communicator who can translate technical challenges into actionable plans and align diverse teams around common goals.
Customer-focused, capable of distilling complex customer needs into practical product requirements.
Passionate and driven by the transformative potential of intelligent robotic systems in manufacturing, always eager to learn and explore new frontiers.
Good to Have
Familiarity with domain-specific libraries (e.g., OpenCV, MoveIt, BehaviorTree.CPP or Py Trees, ros2_control) and real-world production deployments.
Expertise in calibration theory and vision-based robot calibration.
Experience in both traditional machine vision and deep learning-based vision systems.
Experience with Nvidia Omniverse and/or Isaac Sim for advanced simulation and testing.
Track record of deploying robotics solutions in manufacturing at scale.
Familiarity with the unique challenges of bringing next-generation robotics to market in high-growth environments.

Sunrise Robotics
View Company ProfileSunrise Robotics (operating under sunriserobotics.co, legally Sunrise Robotics Corporation) is the premier, enterprise-grade AI-native industrial automation platform, digital twin robotics pioneer, and intelligent hardware orchestration powerhouse engineered to act as the definitive, high-velocity simulation-to-reality, autonomous dual-arm manipulation, and adaptive manufacturing layer for small-to-mid-sized manufacturers (SMEs), automotive builders, and electronics assembly networks globally. Co-founded in 2023 by elite technology and product innovators Tomaž Štolfa (CEO), Marko Thaler (CTO), and Joe Perrott (CCO)—utilizing engineering expertise honed at companies like Waymo, Google, Unity, and Red Bull—the startup completely eliminates the severe systemic friction of traditional industrial automation. It targets the critical bottleneck where manufacturers battle extreme labor shortages, rigid localized programming loops, and high initial setup costs, by deploying its proprietary simulation-trained robotic cells. Moving far beyond passive, single-task robotic arms or high-friction manual workstations, Sunrise natively unifies real-time multimodal spatial perception, human-like two-arm coordination, digital twin-driven virtual workstation training, and dynamic AI-powered process adjustments into a single plug-and-play workspace that can be deployed in hours rather than months. Its intelligent, self-learning fleet is trusted by high-tech partners across electronics, battery storage, and supercar manufacturing. Validating its rapid commercial trajectory and deeptech efficacy, the high-growth enterprise emerged from stealth with an $8.5 million Seed funding round co-led by Plural and Seedcamp, with strategic participation from Tapestry VC, Prototype Capital, and Tiny Supercomputer Investment Company. Under the hood, its technology core utilizes advanced deep reinforcement learning models trained in virtual physics simulations, secure ISO 10218 / TS 15066 safety configurations, dynamic radar monitoring systems, and highly scalable cloud-data pipelines designed to orchestrate and update distributed robot fleets with absolute performance correctness and sub-second reaction times. What sets Sunrise Robotics apart is its uncompromising dedication to replacing fragile, single-use automation setups with an ever-learning, universally adaptive robotic fleet; by bridging the gap between performance-intensive simulation models and immediate physical factory floor execution, the company remains a definitive cornerstone of modern algorithmic robotics and global industrial manufacturing transformation.
