Registered Nurse (RN) - Virtual Nursing Services (Independent Contractor)

About the Engagement

9amHealth is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide virtual nursing services to members living with chronic cardiometabolic conditions.

This is an independent contractor engagement. RNs use their professional nursing judgment and expertise to:

• Conduct virtual nursing visits via telehealth, including structured clinical intake, assessments, medication reconciliation, and symptom reviews.
• Provide nursing support through messaging, responding to member questions about symptoms, medications, side effects, and chronic disease management.
• Offer member education and coaching on evidence-based practices, including medication support, lifestyle guidance, and chronic disease self-management.
• Coordinate care escalation for acute clinical findings, medication concerns, or changes in member status, ensuring continuity of care.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation in electronic health records, including assessment findings, education provided, and follow-up needs.

Qualifications

Licensure:

• Active, unrestricted RN license in good standing.
• Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate license or privilege required, where applicable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain additional state licenses for non-compact states.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or relevant clinical certification preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience.
• At least one year in telehealth, virtual care, or ambulatory care.
• Two or more years supporting individuals with diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, or cardiometabolic conditions preferred.

Clinical and Technical Skills:

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking for escalation.
• Ability to provide clear, evidence-based member education within RN scope of practice.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and virtual care technology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for translating complex medical information.
• Independent management of visits, documentation, and follow-up responsibilities.

Independent Contractor Engagement

This role is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not an employment relationship. Contractors:

• Are not eligible for employee benefits.
• Determine their own availability and accept service opportunities.
• Must fulfill commitments per clinical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Are responsible for maintaining licenses, credentials, insurance, and taxes.
• May provide services to other organizations if it does not conflict with commitments.
