The Regional Director (RD) of Field Medical is responsible for regional oversight of the Replimune Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team. This role involves recruiting, training, deploying, and managing a regional MSL team to support Replimune’s clinical and business objectives.
The RD will collaborate closely with the National Director, Medical Affairs Sr. Leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and execute regional field medical activities aligned with the overarching strategic plan. The ideal candidate will have significant experience across relevant therapeutic areas and the ability to serve as a leader and mentor for MSLs within the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy regional resources to support and ensure attainment of business objectives, including adherence to regional fiscal budgets, dissemination of scientific information within regulatory and compliance guidelines, managing team and individual performance, regional project management, and quantifying and reporting regional results.
- Direct, coordinate, and support the activities of MSLs within a designated geographic region to achieve clinical and business objectives within a therapeutic area, including coaching and mentoring for a designated number of MSLs.
- Work cross-functionally to identify, develop, and implement MSL strategies and tactics while monitoring results and compliance.
- Conduct competitive business analysis and clinical positioning of a designated therapeutic area in the region.
- Assist the National Director with business and clinical strategy and tactical plan development, implementation, and impact goal achievement, including quantification of results at the field level.
- Maintain business and clinical knowledge of the designated therapeutic area, including current treatment strategies, competitors, and new therapeutic developments. Continuously educate self on global market issues, trends, and product knowledge.
- Proactively analyze local and regional business needs to identify opportunities where the MSL function can enhance business results.
- Ensure MSL team members maintain adequate communication and interaction with field colleagues according to compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure MSLs have the necessary tools, training, and materials to perform effectively and efficiently.
- Provide consistent and timely feedback to MSLs regarding their individual performance and progress, including annual performance reviews, growth and succession planning, and real-time field reports based on regular field travel.
- Proactively address performance issues in accordance with Replimune’s guidelines.
- Ensure MSL team members update and maintain all required databases with current and complete information. Ensure appropriate documentation of KOL interactions and responses to unsolicited requests and conduct routine audits and reports to the National Director.
- Appropriately allocate resources to support franchise and business initiatives, ensuring cross-functional integration of the MSL team at the field level to maximize strategic initiatives.
- Complete special projects with overall organizational impact at the request of the National Director.
- Identify new projects that will enhance business success and bring them to the attention of senior leadership.
- Serve as mentor and trainer for other managers and new hires.
- Identify opportunities for cross-functional integration of MSL roles and activities at the field level.
- Communicate regional activities and results to the Senior Director and other cross-functional leadership.
- Ensure team member adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines in all aspects of scientific dissemination of information.
Other Responsibilities:

Educational Requirements:
- An advanced degree in medical science (MD, PharmD, or PhD) is strongly preferred. Candidates without an advanced degree are required to have at least 2 years of industry MSL team leadership experience in the therapeutic area, and 8+ years overall related experience.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Leadership experience with direct reports is strongly preferred.
- Ability to efficiently manage time and priorities.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to compile and disseminate information to others in a cohesive fashion to ensure a clear understanding of project status and direction.
- Solid understanding of drug development and life-cycle development of a product.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with thought leaders and establish trust through consistent demonstration of scientific expertise and satisfactory follow-through to requests from thought-leaders; ability to work effectively with key decision makers, both within and outside the company.
- Willingness to travel.
