Daybreak Health partners with school districts to ensure every student needing mental health care receives timely, culturally responsive care. The national shortage of school psychologists (1 per 1,200 students vs. the recommended 1 per 500) leaves families waiting months for support. Daybreak Health bridges this gap by matching students to clinicians within 1-2 weeks, at no cost to families. Their impact is measurable: 81% of students show improvement on clinical measures, 92% of families report meaningful behavioral changes, and 80% of school staff observe better attendance, grades, and behavior. Backed by top-tier investors like Union Square Ventures and Y Combinator, Daybreak Health serves over 1 million students across districts nationwide.
In this role, you will own the full recruiting cycle for licensed therapists, counselors, and social workers who deliver care to young people. This is a high-volume, relationship-driven position. Mental health clinicians are in high demand, so you’ll need to move quickly, communicate clearly, and keep candidates engaged from first contact through offer. You’ll collaborate closely with clinical leadership to understand hiring needs and ensure every open seat is filled with a clinically and culturally strong fit.
What You’ll Do:
- Actively source and engage licensed clinicians through job boards, outreach, and referrals
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified candidates across multiple states
- Conduct video screens to assess licensure, experience, and fit for the patient population
- Coordinate and support the interview process with clinical leadership
- Partner with credentialing and onboarding teams to set new hires up for success
- Keep candidate records and pipeline stages accurate and up-to-date in the ATS
- Write and maintain clear, compelling job postings
- Track and report on recruiting metrics like time-to-fill and pipeline health
Who Thrives Here:
- Moves fast, as clinical talent gets hired quickly
- Organized enough to juggle many open roles and candidates simultaneously
- Strong communicator with candidates and hiring managers
- Empathetic, as candidates are often clinicians themselves
- Resilient, given the high volume of rejections before securing hires
- Detail-oriented, especially regarding licensure and credentialing requirements
- Genuinely curious about behavioral health and mission-driven work
Qualifications:
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years of recruiting experience, ideally in healthcare, behavioral health, or a licensed/credentialed field
- Experience managing a full-cycle recruiting process, from sourcing to offer
- Comfort handling high candidate volume across multiple roles
- Experience using an ATS to track candidates and pipeline stages
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with clinical licensure requirements (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) across multiple states
- Experience recruiting at a startup or fast-growth company
- Background or interest in mental health, especially youth mental health

View Company ProfileDaybreak Health is a mission-driven digital health company focused exclusively on addressing the youth mental health crisis through comprehensive, school-based teletherapy programs. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company partners directly with school districts and over 50 health plans across the United States to provide K-12 students with accessible, evidence-based mental health support, regardless of their insurance status. By offering a hybrid approach that includes customized teletherapy, in-person therapy, universal screeners, and specialized programs for higher-risk subpopulations (such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ youth), Daybreak Health aims to treat students to a place of concrete, long-term improvement rather than just offering short-term transitional care. Trusted by top school districts and representing more than 1.5 million enrolled students, Daybreak actively improves academic outcomes by addressing the foundational mental health challenges that hinder a student's ability to learn, focus, and thrive.
