Daybreak Health partners with school districts to ensure mental health care is accessible to every student who needs it. The current gap is significant: the recommended ratio is one school psychologist per 500 students, but the national reality is closer to one per 1,200 students. This results in families waiting months for care while counselors manage impossible caseloads. Daybreak Health addresses this by matching students to clinicians based on language, culture, identity, and specific needs, often starting care within 1-2 weeks of referral and at no cost to families.
Results speak for themselves: 81% of students show improvement on standardized clinical measures, 92% of families report meaningful behavioral changes at home, and 80% of school staff observe better attendance, grades, and behavior. Backed by top-tier investors like Union Square Ventures, Lux Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Maven Ventures, and Y Combinator, Daybreak Health currently serves districts representing over 1 million students. However, there is still a vast majority of the country without adequate solutions.
In this role, you will oversee the entire recruiting cycle for licensed therapists, counselors, and social workers who provide care to the students Daybreak Health serves. This is a high-volume, relationship-driven position. Given the high demand for mental health clinicians, you must move quickly, communicate clearly, and keep candidates engaged from the initial contact through the offer stage. You will collaborate closely with clinical leadership to understand hiring needs and ensure every open position is filled with a candidate who is both clinically and culturally aligned.
What You’ll Do:
- Actively source and engage licensed clinicians through job boards, outreach, and referrals
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified candidates across multiple states
- Conduct video screens to evaluate licensure, experience, and fit for the patient population
- Coordinate and support the interview process with clinical leadership
- Partner with credentialing and onboarding teams to ensure new hires have a successful start
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records and pipeline stages in the ATS
- Write and maintain compelling job postings
- Track and report on recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill and pipeline health
Who Thrives Here:
- Individuals who can move quickly, as clinical talent is often in high demand and gets hired fast
- Highly organized professionals capable of managing multiple open roles and candidates simultaneously
- Strong communicators who can effectively engage both candidates and hiring managers
- Empathetic individuals, especially those who have experience as clinicians themselves
- Resilient candidates who can handle the high volume of rejections before securing a hire
- Detail-oriented professionals, particularly those who understand the nuances of licensure and credentialing requirements
- Individuals genuinely interested in behavioral health and mission-driven work
Qualifications:
Must-haves:
- 3+ years of recruiting experience, ideally within healthcare, behavioral health, or another licensed or credentialed field
- Experience managing a full-cycle recruiting process, from sourcing to offer
- Ability to handle high candidate volume across multiple open roles
- Experience using an ATS to track candidates and pipeline stages
Nice-to-haves:
- Familiarity with clinical licensure requirements (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) across multiple states
- Experience recruiting at a startup or fast-growth company
- Background or interest in mental health, particularly youth mental health

View Company ProfileDaybreak Health is a mission-driven digital health company focused exclusively on addressing the youth mental health crisis through comprehensive, school-based teletherapy programs. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company partners directly with school districts and over 50 health plans across the United States to provide K-12 students with accessible, evidence-based mental health support, regardless of their insurance status. By offering a hybrid approach that includes customized teletherapy, in-person therapy, universal screeners, and specialized programs for higher-risk subpopulations (such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ youth), Daybreak Health aims to treat students to a place of concrete, long-term improvement rather than just offering short-term transitional care. Trusted by top school districts and representing more than 1.5 million enrolled students, Daybreak actively improves academic outcomes by addressing the foundational mental health challenges that hinder a student's ability to learn, focus, and thrive.
