Want to know if you're a match for this job?
Daybreak Health partners with school districts to ensure every student needing mental health care receives timely, culturally responsive, and no-cost access. The national shortage of school psychologists—1 per 1,200 students (vs. the recommended 1 per 500)—means families face months-long waits. Daybreak bridges this gap by matching students to clinicians within 1–2 weeks of referral, delivering measurable results: 81% of students show improvement on clinical measures, 92% of families report meaningful behavioral changes at home, and 80% of school staff observe better attendance, grades, and behavior.
Backed by top-tier investors like Union Square Ventures, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator, Daybreak currently serves districts representing over 1 million students. This role will help scale their impact nationwide.
In this role, you will own the full recruiting cycle for licensed therapists, counselors, and social workers who deliver care to young people. This is a high-volume, relationship-driven position. Mental health clinicians are in high demand, so you’ll need to move quickly, communicate clearly, and keep candidates engaged from first contact through offer. You’ll collaborate closely with clinical leadership to align hiring needs with the right candidates—both clinically and culturally.
What You’ll Do
- Actively source and engage licensed clinicians through job boards, outreach, and referrals
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified candidates across multiple states
- Conduct video screens to assess licensure, experience, and fit for Daybreak’s patient population
- Coordinate and support the interview process with clinical leadership
- Partner with credentialing and onboarding teams to ensure new hires start strong
- Keep candidate records and pipeline stages accurate in the ATS
- Write and maintain compelling job postings
- Track and report on recruiting metrics like time-to-fill and pipeline health
Who Thrives Here
- Thrives in fast-paced environments where clinical talent gets hired quickly
- Highly organized, capable of managing multiple open roles and candidates simultaneously
- Exceptional communicator, bridging candidates and hiring managers effectively
- Empathetic, especially toward candidates who are often clinicians themselves
- Resilient, accustomed to handling high rejection rates before securing hires
- Detail-oriented, particularly around licensure and credentialing requirements
- Genuinely passionate about behavioral health and mission-driven work
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of recruiting experience, ideally in healthcare, behavioral health, or a licensed/credentialed field
- Experience managing a full-cycle recruiting process (sourcing to offer)
- Ability to handle high candidate volume across multiple roles
- Familiarity with using an ATS to track candidates and pipeline stages
Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of clinical licensure requirements (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) across multiple states
- Experience recruiting at a startup or fast-growth company
- Background or interest in mental health, particularly youth mental health

View Company ProfileDaybreak Health is a mission-driven digital health company focused exclusively on addressing the youth mental health crisis through comprehensive, school-based teletherapy programs. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company partners directly with school districts and over 50 health plans across the United States to provide K-12 students with accessible, evidence-based mental health support, regardless of their insurance status. By offering a hybrid approach that includes customized teletherapy, in-person therapy, universal screeners, and specialized programs for higher-risk subpopulations (such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ youth), Daybreak Health aims to treat students to a place of concrete, long-term improvement rather than just offering short-term transitional care. Trusted by top school districts and representing more than 1.5 million enrolled students, Daybreak actively improves academic outcomes by addressing the foundational mental health challenges that hinder a student's ability to learn, focus, and thrive.
