Product Manager - Insight & Data
Job Description
Key Skills Required
Master these to land this role
Want to know if you're a match for this job?
We're looking for a Product Manager to own our Insight & Data area β the measurement layer of the Aphex platform. You'll report directly to the Head of Product and lead a squad of ~6 engineers that flexes with scope.
The opportunity: Aphex captures something unique β granular, structured data about how major projects actually execute. Not just what was planned, but the daily record of what happened: coordination, progress, constraints, the gap between plan and reality. This dataset doesn't exist anywhere else at this fidelity.
Our thesis is that the behaviours teams run β publishing cadence, daily coordination routines, statusing discipline β are the leading indicators of project performance. Measuring those routines, scoring them, and connecting them to outcomes is the core intellectual problem of this role. Nobody in construction has done it.
Your two customers:
The user. Signals surfaced inside their existing workflow that change behaviour on site β not another dashboard. A routine-health score a project team actually acts on. Org-level insight an executive trusts.
Aphex itself. Your measurement system is the evidence layer for our own product decisions β activation curves, feature landed-vs-rejected, routine adoption. Success looks like every PM in the company citing your measures in their briefs without having to ask you for a report.
Your charter β what you own:
The core measures: the canonical, tool-agnostic definitions of project and user behaviour (publishing scores, daily-cycle activity, routine health) and the taxonomy underneath them
The data platform: the pipelines and aggregated data models everything reads from
MCP and the API surface: how customers and AI tools access their data
Eval frameworks for the AI agents that consume this data
The org/admin surfaces: admin console, org-level insights, report sharing, request-access β end-to-end, your team ships these
Activation as an outcome: instrumenting and driving the behaviours that make projects stick
Explicitly not yours:
The daily-cycle workflow itself (briefings, capture, diary) β owned by the Planner and Diary teams
In-workflow rendering of your signals β you own the signal contract (what's measured, what triggers, what good looks like); the surface teams build the moments, prioritised like any other roadmap work
That split is deliberate. This is a leverage role: your definitions and data flow through every team's roadmap.
What You'll Do
Own the measurement system
Define, defend, and version the core measures of project behaviour and performance
Connect behavioural routines to outcomes β build the evidence for what actually predicts delivery
Make the measures self-serve for users, customer teams, and internal product/GTM teams
Own delivery
Run discovery through QA to launch with your engineering team
Write specs and briefs your team can execute against β and hold them to their briefs
Independently sanity-check sequencing and estimates; challenge what doesn't smell right
Make daily trade-off calls on scope, timeline, and quality
Own the platform
Data pipelines, aggregated models, and the API/MCP access layer
Platform reliability β major projects depend on accurate, accessible data
Partner across the company
Publish signal contracts the Planner and Diary teams build against
Work with CS and Solution Engineers on how customers want to use their data
Feed product decision making across the org with evidence, not opinion
Why This Matters
Every contractor reinvents reporting from scratch, and every construction analytics product measures the same lagging outputs. Aphex's edge is measuring the behaviours that precede the outputs β and we have the only dataset that makes it possible. You're building both the product that surfaces this to customers and the evidence engine that steers what Aphex builds next.
About You
Essential:
A measurement background: you've defined metrics systems, built or evaluated data pipelines, or worked as/with data scientists closely enough to hold your own
Product ownership: you've owned a product or platform area standalone β set direction, not just executed someone else's
Technical depth to interrogate, not just converse: you can pressure-test an engineering estimate and spot a sequencing error
Track record shipping data products, analytics, or platform work with quality
Remote-first operator: writes clearly, documents decisions, communicates proactively
Highly valued:
Behavioural analytics, activation/retention instrumentation, or product-led growth measurement
Experience with AI/agent products and evaluation frameworks
Vertical SaaS or construction/industrial experience
Experience making internal teams evidence-driven, not just customers
This role isn't:
A dashboard factory β we're building signals into the workflow itself, not another reporting surface, so it won't suit someone who wants to just ship charts
Pure strategy β this is hands-on delivery; you'll need to enjoy owning execution, not just setting direction and handing it off
Diluted by a layer above you β you'll report straight to the Head of Product, so the ownership is genuinely yours
A role where the brief always arrives fully resolved β you'll often be deciding with incomplete information, and that's part of the challenge: shaping the answer, not just executing one that's already settled
What We Offer
Flexible/remote work across UK and Australian time zones, with WeWork access
One annual all-expenses-paid international team offsite (we've been to Vietnam and Thailand β where to next?)
An Aphex social budget
Β£500 annual training allowance and access to our Emerging Leaders programme
Paid parental leave
MindFi EAP access
Employee Referral Program
Your personal Lego welcome kit & Aphex swag

Aphex
View Company ProfileAphex is an enterprise-grade construction technology (ConTech) platform engineered to orchestrate short-term planning and high-velocity field execution. Moving far beyond traditional, siloed spreadsheets, the platform operates as a collaborative scheduling engine that seamlessly bridges the gap between master project plans and daily site operations. Under the hood, Aphex integrates natively with legacy enterprise infrastructure like Primavera P6, allowing decentralized engineering teams, project managers, and subcontractors to visually map out lookahead schedules, track complex dependencies, and mitigate spatial clashes in real time. What sets Aphex apart is its uncompromising dedication to on-site agility, transforming static project data into a dynamic, highly actionable operational ecosystem that dramatically accelerates complex, large-scale construction workflows.
