Product Manager at Socket

We’re hiring Socket’s first Product Manager. You’ll join at a pivotal stage with strong product-market fit, a growing customer base, and significant room to shape Socket’s future. You’ll directly influence what we build, why we build it, and where Socket goes next.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own prioritization across customer commitments, support escalations, reliability work, and new opportunities, ensuring clarity on what each commitment displaces.
• Dig deeper into feature requests by engaging directly with customers, participating in Customer Engineering and Sales calls, and validating proposed solutions early to inform course corrections.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to translate priorities into requirements, user stories, success criteria, and project plans, including owners, dependencies, and milestones.
• Engage with technical constraints, balancing cost when evaluating options.
• Maintain an up-to-date view of commitments, from contractual obligations to exploratory work, and provide clear guidance to GTM teams on what can be promised, discussed, and the firmness of timelines.
• Document the expected benefits and key assumptions behind each investment, track adoption and outcomes, and incorporate learnings into future decisions.

Required Qualifications:

• Several years of product management experience, ideally owning developer-facing, security, or infrastructure products in a B2B SaaS environment.
• A track record of making tough prioritization decisions under capacity constraints, including saying no, defining product boundaries, and making trade-offs explicit.
• Technical proficiency to engage with engineers and customers, bridging customer conversations, product strategy, detailed requirements, and technical trade-offs. Familiarity with concepts like CI/CD pipelines, lockfiles, and the impact of build-time checks.
• Customer-centric mindset focused on uncovering root problems rather than merely relaying feature requests, ensuring promises align with capabilities.
• Ability to earn trust with engineers by providing context, asking insightful questions, and respecting their technical ownership. Influence across Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales, and leadership without relying on formal authority.
• Strong project management skills, including early risk identification and alignment management during scope or timing changes.
• Clear, concise written communication skills, essential for asynchronous work and explaining decision rationale to keep teams aligned.
• Builder mindset; no existing product playbook—you’ll help create it from the ground up.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with software supply chain security, application security, vulnerability management, or security platforms.
• Experience building products for developers or security teams.
• Familiarity with enterprise software evaluation, technical sales cycles, and customer-driven roadmap pressure.
• Experience joining as an early or first dedicated Product Manager.
