Join an established engineering and hydraulic business as a Procurement Officer, supporting day-to-day purchasing across local and international suppliers. You’ll manage purchase orders, supplier follow-ups, delivery schedules, freight coordination, procurement records, and project requirements while ensuring materials and equipment are sourced accurately and on time. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented procurement professional to take ownership of transactional purchasing and contribute to efficient supply chain operations.
- Process purchasing requests from Engineering, Service, Sales, Stores and Operations.
- Procure hydraulic components, materials, equipment and subcontracted services in accordance with approved requirements.
- Interpret Bills of Materials, technical specifications, quantities and delivery priorities.
- Raise accurate purchase orders and issue them to approved local and international suppliers.
- Obtain supplier confirmations, pricing, availability, lead times and expected delivery dates.
- Monitor open purchase orders through to delivery and completion.
- Allocate purchased items and costs to the correct project, job or inventory requirement.
- Identify pricing discrepancies, supply risks and potential delays and escalate them promptly.
- Coordinate project procurement involving multiple components, suppliers and delivery timeframes.
- Monitor long lead-time and critical items against engineering and project schedules.
- Support min/max inventory replenishment, overseas stock ordering and reactive service procurement.
- Act as a primary contact for suppliers across Australia, China, Europe, the United States and other markets.
- Follow up order confirmations, production progress, ETAs, shipment readiness and documentation.
- Monitor supplier performance across delivery, quality, responsiveness and cost effectiveness.
- Support supplier selection, onboarding and due diligence activities.
- Provide current procurement and delivery updates to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate domestic and international freight with suppliers and carriers.
- Arrange freight bookings through DHL, DHL Express and other approved logistics platforms.
- Prepare or coordinate shipping, collection, export and carrier documentation.
- Track shipments through to delivery and maintain accurate freight and ETA information.
- Coordinate incoming deliveries with Stores personnel.
- Investigate shortages, damaged goods, incorrect items and delivery discrepancies.
- Support warranty claims, returns and non-conforming product processes.
- Maintain accurate procurement information within Tradify, MYOB, spreadsheets and the master procurement tracker.
- Record purchase orders, item codes, supplier details, pricing, quantities, ETAs and freight information.
- Monitor the procurement mailbox and progress purchasing requests through to completion.
- Maintain organised procurement documentation in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
- Obtain competitive pricing and identify cost-saving and value-for-money opportunities.
- Produce reports on outstanding orders, delivery risks and supplier performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing administration and supplier follow-up.
