About Fuze Health: Fuze Health is a premier, hyper-growth digital health pioneer, enterprise software innovator, and integrated pharmacy services platform on an absolute mission to revolutionize global patient experiences and care delivery models. Fuze Health’s foundational strength is established through the strategic combination of several proven, technology-powered healthcare leaders, actively uniting the advanced capabilities of LetsGetChecked, Truepill, and Alto Pharmacy into one distinctive, unified force. Operating across a distributed network, Fuze Health empowers millions of individuals to digitally connect with care providers, essential health resources, and vital clinical treatments while enabling life science organizations, employers, and health plans to enhance diagnostic outcomes and clinical value safely and securely.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, data-minded Principal Engineer to join our core global Engineering division in a full-time remote capacity within the United States. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will operate as a top-tier technical leader and elite individual contributor driving the overarching architectural strategy and technical roadmap across multiple cross-functional product squads. Moving completely away from boilerplate code fixes, you will claim absolute individual accountability for designing and executing our most complex, high-throughput systems, guiding the transition of legacy applications into modern, highly cohesive cloud networks. This high-agency role demands a seasoned full-stack or backend authority who commands deep domain expertise in HealthTech or digital pharmacy environments and possesses a strong pragmatic bias for action and delivery over pure architectural abstractions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Strategy & Vision: Define, evolve, and govern the target software architecture for FuzeRx’s core B2B fulfillment and consumer digital pharmacy applications, driving the migration of legacy monoliths into scalable microservices.
  • High-Volume API Integration: Architect, implement, and optimize highly available distributed software interfaces and web services, successfully handling high volumes of secure healthcare transactions.
  • Polyglot Backend Engineering: Program, refactor, and maintain core application layers and workflow tools natively utilizing Python and Ruby on Rails.
  • Relational Data Tuning: Build efficient data schemas, write optimized SQL queries, and maximize performance metrics inside enterprise PostgreSQL and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • HealthTech Interoperability Management: Enforce strict healthcare data interoperability standards across systems, natively configuring data payloads in alignment with HL7, FHIR, and NCPDP parameters alongside EHR integrations.
  • Regulatory & Security Compliance Gates: Partner directly with the InfoSec group to architect systems that natively support strict data privacy boundaries, ensuring absolute adherence to HIPAA and SOC2 standards.
  • Technical Mentorship & Culture: Serve as a vital force multiplier and technical mentor for Staff, Senior, and Mid-level developers, instituting rigorous architecture reviews, pairing sessions, and technical brown-bags.
  • CI/CD & Infrastructure Standardization: Establish and enforce unified engineering standards across distributed squads, specifying coding guidelines, testing frameworks, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline strategies.
  • Escalation Triage: Act as the primary Tier 1 technical escalation point for critical architectural outages, diagnosing database efficiency constraints or system latency bottlenecks rapidly during business hours.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of verified, progressive hands-on professional history running advanced software engineering, distributed system design, backend application delivery, or cloud-native architecture.
  • 3+ years of technical experience operating explicitly at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior architectural tier, managing technical product roadmaps across multiple distributed engineering squads.
  • Expert-tier programming literacy and demonstrable development depth in Python, accompanied by full-stack or backend fluency across Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and JavaScript environments.
  • Advanced, production-proven data engineering mastery configuring, optimizing, and monitoring relational databases natively inside PostgreSQL.
  • Proven background designing high-throughput B2B SaaS applications, complex logistical engines, or distributed transactional architectures.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with a native capacity to explain complex technical trade-offs, security variables, and software boundaries clearly to non-technical executives and clinical stakeholders.
  • Employment Authorization Restraint: Authorized to work for any employer in the United States, with an absolute understanding that the company cannot assume, transfer, or sponsor any visa classification at this time.
  • Location Context: Full-time parameters open exclusively to qualified engineering leaders permanently residing within allowed U.S. states (including CA, TX, NY, FL, PA, GA, IL, OH, NC, MI, and others outlined in regional guidelines) to operate 100% remotely from home.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • A Master’s Degree focused natively on Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Design, or a related quantitative engineering field.
  • Active technical contributions to the open-source software community or a historical background speaking at recognized technology conferences.
  • Demonstrated background driving major technical evolutions toward decoupled, high-availability event-driven cloud structures.
  • Familiarity with standard corporate task tracking and communication layers, such as Slack, Jira, and GSuite.

What We Offer

  • Highly Competitive Salaried Compensation: An attractive baseline salary range calibrated transparently between $209,600 – $262,000 USD per year, tailored precisely to evaluate your technical authority.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, code, and define the health tech architectures improving outcomes for millions of digital patients globally.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering total lifestyle flexibility, flexible vacation time, accrued paid sick periods, and 10 scheduled calendar paid holidays.
  • Immediate eligibility to access comprehensive dental, vision, and multiple group medical insurance plans, supplemented by employer-paid short-term and long-term disability line protections.
  • A company-supported 401(k) retirement savings plan alongside group life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) options.
  • Access to customized health accounts (FSA and HSA), a monthly Lifestyle Spending Account allowance, commuter benefits, home health testing kits, and a fertility medication discount program.
  • Generous family provisions, including 8 weeks of paid parental leave for eligible employees, additional paid weeks for birthing parents, and 4 weeks of paid caregiver leave.
