Policy Intern – Koch Internship Program (KIP) at Grassroot Institute of Hawaii

Job Summary:

The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is seeking a policy intern to work with the director of policy. The intern will conduct research, write policy papers, commentaries, or articles, and engage with local and national media, community groups, and lawmakers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct general or detailed research as required.
• Assist Institute staff with tasks, projects, and events.
• Revise or update research as requested by editorial staff.
• Represent the institute at state and national conferences, as needed.
• Participate in staff calls and leadership team meetings.
• Maintain excellent communication and foster a collaborative working environment with all departments, offices, and customers.
• Ensure regular attendance and timeliness.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Alignment with the vision and mission of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii.
• The ability to write well-structured, accurate, and readable prose.
• The ability to connect with community members to aid in research.
• The ability to reliably commute to the institute’s main office in downtown Honolulu. This role is open to remote work for the right candidate, but prefers on-site.
