Enveritas is building solutions for smallholder coffee farmers that are currently beyond the reach of existing sustainability certification or verification approaches. We have developed a rigorous, scalable, and transparent method of verification that works in this “underserved space.” This verification is the backbone of our Responsible Sourcing platform, helping companies meet their sustainability targets by investing in the areas that need it most.

About the Role

The Operation Coordinator (Ops Coordinator) will join Enveritas’ global team to support operations in Asia, based in Indonesia. This role focuses primarily on the Indonesian program—covering both coffee and cacao, the largest and most complex in the region—while also providing data quality and analytical support to other Asian origins such as India, China, Laos, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste as program needs shift.

With support from the global team, the Ops Coordinator will manage, analyze, and clean data on a real-time basis, provide feedback to field teams, and collaborate with members of the Enveritas team from diverse backgrounds. The position reports to the Indonesia Country Lead and is fully remote, with the ability to travel domestically to coffee- and cacao-producing regions and occasionally to other countries in the region.

The Role

Data Quality Process

  • Monitor the quality of data collected daily and communicate issues to the respective Field Coordinators.
  • Manage and supervise the Quality Control Officers (QCOs) in Indonesia, reviewing daily QC reports, close-out, and retraining materials they produce.
  • Follow up daily with Field Coordinators to correct rejected surveys, resolve issues, and monitor completed surveys for bad data or erroneous randomization protocols.
  • Support close-out and finalization of data, including contextual insights about coffee and cacao regions.
  • Manage the backcheck survey process and supervise backcheck personnel for the country/region.

Survey Delivery and Field Operations

  • Support the delivery of the survey collection process in Indonesia, working closely with the Country Lead and field operations team.
  • Support the coordination of list-based verification, including Key Sustainability Clusters.

Developing Tools

  • Test and help design Data Quality tools and survey questionnaires using smartphones.
  • Support customization and translation review of smallholder, list-based, and backcheck surveys for Indonesia.
  • Collaborate with the Asia Data & Insights team to develop and improve Data Quality protocols.

Analysis and Insights

  • Prepare and share regular analysis and statistics on data collection progress with country teams and the Asia operations team.
  • Contribute to analysis projects and stakeholder presentations using coffee and cacao verification data and insights.
  • Help surface trends and insights enabling roasters, manufacturers, and supply chain actors to make data-driven sourcing decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

  • Support the Country Lead in managing coffee and cacao stakeholder relationships in Indonesia, including cooperatives, exporters, traders, farmers’ organizations, NGOs, industry associations, and research institutes.
  • Support the Country Lead in building connections with local partners and strengthening regional partnerships.
  • Communicate key findings to stakeholders clearly and accurately in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Develop deep expertise in local sustainability issues in the Indonesian coffee and cacao sectors.

Training

  • Support the onboarding and training of Field Coordinators and enumerators, leading sessions on Data Quality.
  • Train the Enveritas field operations team on new survey and data quality tools as they are released.
  • Support the adaptation of training materials across different Asian origins and languages.

Ad Hoc Projects

  • Support new initiatives with the Enveritas global team of program and field operations managers, data scientists, product managers, engineers, agronomists, and industry experts.
  • Support ad hoc special projects, which may not necessarily be related to coffee or cacao.
  • Other duties as assigned, including outside of Indonesia.

Qualifications

  • Experience with data and working across teams.
  • Based in Indonesia.
  • 1-2 years experience managing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research with strong data quality management knowledge is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, economics, business, statistics, plant science, forestry, or other relevant disciplines with relevant professional experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs applications, familiarity with quantitative data collection software/platforms; knowledge of Python or other programming languages beneficial but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and strong working proficiency in English.
  • Comfortable collaborating across time zones with a global team from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Asia—specifically Indonesia—smallholder agriculture and rural field research is an advantage.
  • Exposure to contracts or vendor management is beneficial but not required.
  • Willingness to travel to coffee- and cacao-producing regions across Indonesia, and occasionally to other origins.
  • Clear track record of working in a fast-paced, multicultural team environment.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; flexible problem-solving attitude.
  • An aptitude to easily understand data, derive insights, identify bad data, and suggest improvement areas.
  • Quick learner and effective team-player.
  • Interest in learning more about coffee, cacao, and agriculture.

Enveritas (operating at enveritas.org) is a nonprofit assurance platform engineered for responsible supply chain transparency. Founded in 2016 by David Browning and headquartered in New York City, Enveritas addresses systemic challenges in global agriculture by verifying ethical sourcing and environmental compliance. Unlike traditional certification models, it combines rigorous on-the-ground farmer support with data-driven impact measurement, ensuring brands can trace sustainability claims to real-world outcomes. Under the hood, the organization partners with smallholder farmers—primarily in coffee, cocoa, and tea—to deliver targeted training, infrastructure, and livelihood programs while independently auditing supply chains for issues like child labor and deforestation. This allows leading global brands to meet consumer demand for ethical products while funding measurable farmer development. Backed by a $120K grant in 2018, Enveritas operates on a bootstrapped model, prioritizing mission-driven impact over venture capital.
