ML Engineer (Roleplay Sessions) at Synthesia

Synthesia Roleplay Sessions is a training tool that lets people practice real conversations with AI avatars. Instead of just watching training videos, learners engage in interactive roleplay exercises, such as practicing a sales pitch or handling a customer complaint with an AI coach. The AI provides instant feedback, helping learners understand what they did well and what to improve.

Managers can use a dashboard to track employee training completion, performance metrics, and measure skill improvements. The platform emphasizes learning by doing rather than passive video consumption.

For this ML Engineer role, you will build the AI engine powering the coaching system. This involves creating models that:

• Listen to learners' input during roleplay sessions
• Score their performance in real time
• Generate constructive feedback
• Determine the AI avatar’s next response based on learner actions

This is an applied ML position, not a research role. You must combine strong ML expertise with product-focused software development skills to work across multiple products.

Key Requirements:

• Ability to apply machine learning knowledge to solve real product problems.
• At least 7 years of experience as a software engineer, including 2 years at senior level.
• Experience in a high-performing engineering team operating at scale, whether in a scale-up or established organization with a strong engineering culture.
• Strong alignment with commercial success.
• Pragmatism and bias toward action; comfort with fast iteration.
