As a Medical Assistant at Pelago Health, you'll play a central role in our members' care journeys by providing compassionate support, medication coordination, and seamless care navigation for individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders. Embedded within a cross-functional care team, you'll serve as the primary coordinator for medication management and prior authorization workflows, helping ensure members have timely access to treatment while partnering closely with providers, pharmacies, and internal teams to deliver an exceptional care experience.
What You'll Do
- Manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT) workflows, including medication refills, fulfillment coordination, adherence support, and medication-related member outreach.
- Coordinate prior authorization workflows across prescribed medications, including preparing submissions, tracking status, supporting appeals, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Communicate directly with members, providers, pharmacies, and internal care teams to help ensure timely access to medications and a seamless care experience.
- Support providers with medication management activities, serving as a key clinical support partner throughout the member's treatment journey.
- Partner with counselors and other members of the care team to coordinate care, address member concerns, and promote positive treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with clinical, product, and operations teams to help build and improve scalable medication management workflows.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure medication-related tasks are completed in accordance with clinical protocols and organizational standards.
What We're Looking For
- Active Medical Assistant (MA) certification or equivalent experience, as required by state regulations.
- Experience with prior authorizations, medication coordination, care coordination, or clinical operations.
- Familiarity with substance use disorder (SUD), behavioral health, or addiction medicine, or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment.
- Previous experience working remotely and collaborating across distributed teams is a plus, but not required.
