ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Ambient Group is a growing multi-brand business operating across residential and commercial heating, cooling, electrical, solar, security, and HVAC products and services. The group includes Ambient Electrical, HVAC Air, Control Comfort, solar and security businesses, nationwide heat-pump parts distribution and manufacturing, and Unico—a specialist US ducted HVAC system. The local business services Hamilton, Auckland, and the wider Waikato, while the broader network operates nationwide with approximately 40 staff and 14 contractors.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a commercially minded, confident Marketing & Lead Qualification Manager to generate quality enquiries and convert them into quote-ready opportunities. This is not a purely digital marketing role. A key part of the position involves speaking with prospective customers by phone, understanding their requirements, and identifying whether each enquiry represents a genuine commercial opportunity. The successful candidate must be an excellent verbal communicator who can build rapport quickly, ask effective questions, and confidently guide conversations. They will manage the full journey from campaign creation through to lead qualification and handover.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing and Advertising
- Plan, launch, and optimise Meta campaigns across Facebook and Instagram.
- Develop campaigns for different brands, services, regions, and customer segments.
- Manage advertising spend with a focus on lead quality, conversion, and commercial return.
- Test audiences, messaging, creative, offers, and calls to action.
- Create content for paid advertising, organic social media, email campaigns, and customer communications.
- Turn technical product and service information into clear, persuasive messaging.
- Monitor results and recommend improvements based on campaign and sales outcomes.
Lead Management and Qualification
- Respond promptly to inbound leads from advertising, contact forms, and other channels.
- Speak with prospective customers by phone to understand their requirements and build rapport.
- Ask effective qualification questions covering needs, location, urgency, budget, project scope, and decision-making readiness.
- Apply the company’s agreed qualification criteria, including the existing “four out of five” approach where relevant.
- Use sound commercial judgement to distinguish genuine opportunities from low-quality enquiries.
- Address initial questions or concerns and keep prospects engaged throughout the qualification process.
- Maintain accurate CRM records in Lexi/LAXXY with clear notes for internal teams.
- Assign qualified opportunities to the appropriate person for quoting, site visits, or technical advice.
- Follow up consistently to prevent good opportunities from being lost.
- Use customer feedback and lead-quality trends to improve future campaigns.
Email Marketing and Commercial Coordination
- Create targeted email campaigns promoting services, upgrades, maintenance, and seasonal offers.
- Segment customer databases by brand, region, and customer type where appropriate.
- Work with leadership, sales, and operations to turn commercial priorities into marketing activity.
- Align campaigns with operational capacity, seasonal demand, and geographic coverage.
- Proactively identify and recommend new campaign and lead-generation opportunities.
CRM and Reporting
- Maintain strong CRM hygiene and lead-tracking discipline.
- Improve lead capture, qualification, allocation, and follow-up processes.
- Assess the current CRM setup and recommend practical improvements.
- Report on:
- Leads generated by brand and campaign
- Advertising spend and cost per lead
- Lead quality and qualification rates
- Quote conversion and sales outcomes
- Response times and follow-up activity
- Best-performing locations, services, offers, and creative
- Consistent generation of commercially valuable leads.
- Fast, confident, and professional responses to prospective customers.
- Strong phone conversations that uncover customer needs and qualify genuine opportunities.
- Accurate CRM records and clear handovers to quoting or technical teams.
- Improved conversion from initial enquiry to qualified opportunity.
- Clear visibility over marketing performance, lead quality, and sales outcomes.
- Proactive recommendations that help the business grow in the right areas.
