Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, systems-minded Manager, Engineering - Frontend to lead our core centralized Frontend Platform organization in a full-time remote capacity restricted to candidates resident in Canada. Operating in an impactful player/coach delivery model, you will claim individual strategic accountability for the overall health, operational velocity, and technical direction of our shared frontend infrastructure, web components, and data reporting networks. Shifting completely away from passive management or purely administrative tracking, you will remain deeply technical—jumping directly into critical code bases, steering architecture designs, and running code reviews across multi-tenant platforms. This engineering leadership seat requires a seasoned development veteran with 2+ years of formal management history who designs scalable UI frameworks fluidly, partners peer-to-peer with product and design cells to deliver roadmaps, and builds inclusive workspaces where engineers thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend Platform Team Governance: Guide and direct the development cell responsible for the health, scaling parameters, and multi-tenant delivery metrics of Wrapbook’s global frontend architecture.
- Shared Design Component Engineering: Own, iterate, and evolve central component libraries, data grids, and reporting frameworks natively utilizing Frontend system frameworks to ensure uncompromised UX continuity.
- Figma Workspace Layout Standardization: Partner closely with UX designers to audit and translate interactive layouts, user personas, and vector wireframes natively leveraging Figma system assets.
- Hands-on Player/Coach Code Delivery: Participate actively in the production cycle, writing clean, maintainable user-interface scripts, leading engineering pairings, and debugging critical code paths.
- Technical Design Reviews and Roadmaps: Drive architectural design reviews across the group, advocating for engineering-specific infrastructure goals, developer experience (DX) items, and system upgrades.
- Cross-Functional GTM Alignment: Collaborate fluidly alongside product management, product design, and parallel full-stack platform engineering peers to define user goals and track feature release criteria.
- Agile Sprint Management and Delivery: Manage day-to-day delivery pipelines, establishing uncompromised software quality and performance baselines following structured Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Engineering Talent Growth and Mentorship: Coach, hire, and mentor technical leads and software engineers, running rigorous code reviews to maintain elite development standards across the enterprise.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of verified professional history running engineering management cells, technical team leadership, or product infrastructure coordination within a high-growth tech space.
- Strong personal individual contributor background, showcasing a proven ability to confidently code, debug, and operate critical web applications within a player/coach hierarchy.
- Deep, authoritative technical command of modern web interface development, showing hands-on history deploying component frameworks natively leveraging Frontend development practices.
- Expert-tier familiarity bridging visual guidelines and production code bases natively using Figma component variables, auto layouts, or similar scalable UI repositories.
- Production-tested experience optimizing interactive web applications under full-stack Ruby on Rails environments backed by StimulusJS and Hotwire workflows.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics in fluent English, with an absolute capacity to influence technical direction and align cross-functional product stakeholders.
- Location Context: Parameters open exclusively to qualified engineering managers based permanently and resident within **Canada** to execute software and leadership duties under a 100% remote layout.
Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)
- Prior commercial history leading frontend engineering or UI design systems inside a financial technology enterprise, payroll management startup, e-commerce aggregator, or multi-tenant billing platform.
- Practical operational familiarity navigating distributed databases, memory caches, and cloud infrastructure applications including Redis, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and Kubernetes.
- An outcome-driven personal philosophy that values creative problem solving, sets high execution bars, and excels at breaking open ambiguous problems into data-driven fixes.
What We Offer
- High-Yield Canada Salaried Blueprint: An attractive full-time base salary scale structured transparently between CA$174,000 – CA$237,100 per year (calibrated specifically to Canadian market benchmark data), with your exact placement corresponding to your local live-station zone.
- The exceptional professional canvas to directly direct, code-shape, and deploy the frontend architectures and component systems power-routing automated payroll applications for the world top production firms.
- Profound work-from-home remote parameters providing an elite digital workplace, complete scheduling trust, and zero physical geographic office commuting friction from any location inside Canada.
- Access to an outstanding investment retirement program, offering up to a **2% matching RRSP framework** to secure long-term financial stability.
- Immediate eligibility to enroll in comprehensive corporate **Health and Dental benefits** protection plans.
- Elite remote setup perks, featuring up to **CA$2,025 CAD towards your IT home office workstation setup**, alongside up to CA$67.50 CAD monthly reimbursement for internet and cell phone services.
- Continuous skill acceleration support, providing robust corporate learning and development opportunities combined with access to an **Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO)** culture to recharge.
