Overview of the Role:

We're hiring a Licensed Therapist (LPC or LCSW) to join the leading digital clinic for substance addictions. As a key member of our counseling team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting and empowering individuals on their journey to overcome substance addictions. Your main objective will be guiding members towards leading addiction-free lives. Collaborating closely with our dynamic team, you'll contribute to the rapid growth of our business, gaining invaluable firsthand experience in scaling a successful venture.

Pelago is building the next generation of specialty care — one where technology handles the administrative burden so clinicians can focus entirely on the people they're treating. As a counselor at Pelago, you'll work within Atlas, our AI-native EHR purpose-built for substance use care, which means no 45-minute documentation blocks after sessions, real-time evidence-based guidance during calls, and full member context assembled before you even say hello. This is what practicing at the top of your license actually looks like.

This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S., provided they hold an active LPC or LCSW license in Florida.

In this role you will:

  • Provide counseling to members on a weekly basis through text-based chat, video calls, and phone calls, to monitor their progress on their recovery journey
  • Onboard the users with an initial phone call and complete a multidimensional assessment to gather relevant behavioral health history and symptoms
  • Work within Atlas, Pelago's AI-native EHR, which automates session documentation, surfaces real-time evidence-based guidance during calls, and prepares clinical context before each session — so your time stays focused on member care, not administrative lift
  • Monitor the progress of members and offer therapeutic strategies on how to deal with temptations and cravings
  • Be supportive and encouraging to members to help them establish and sustain motivation to change their substance use
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a positive experience for all members and provide valuable feedback to the product development team
  • Uphold good standing with your active license(s)/certification(s)
  • Attend team meetings and/or case discussions as scheduled
  • Help someone transform their life and the life of their family through their addiction recovery!

The background we are looking for:

  • Active, unrestricted LPC or LCSW license in good standing in Florida
  • Masters Degree required
  • 2+ years of clinical experience delivering CBT and/or behavioral support for substance use disorders (tobacco, alcohol, opioids)
  • Comfort working in an AI-augmented care environment; openness to adopting AI-assisted tools that support documentation, member communication, and clinical decision-making
  • Proficient with Motivational Interviewing (MI), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), MAT coordination, and Relapse Prevention
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary healthcare teams (coaches, physicians, nurses)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable in fast-moving environments; able to prioritize competing demands
  • Technologically fluent; quick to learn new tools and platforms
  • Preferred: Prior telehealth experience across multiple time zones and/or digital health settings

  • Unlimited PTO Policy, 10 paid holidays, & company wide “Me Time” Days
  • Paid maternity, paternity & new parent leave
  • Flexible working environment
