Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, data-minded Junior Database Administrator to join our core global Technology Platform team in a full-time remote capacity within the United States. In this specialized, cloud-based data engineering seat, you will support our expansive international infrastructure alongside distributed team members based across both the EU and the US. Designed as a hands-on developmental launchpad, this role offers an ideal opportunity to scale your skills within a high-concurrency production-level ecosystem. Standing at the cross-functional junction of multiple technical units, you will claim individual accountability for monitoring database health patterns, troubleshooting data access layers, and resolving cross-functional requests. This role demands a rising relational database professional who enjoys a methodical approach to problem-solving under pressure and is eager to expand their automation range under the guidance of senior staff engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring: Assist in managing enterprise cloud instances natively inside AWS RDS, monitoring system health trends, tracking latency percentiles, and participating in root-cause error investigations.
  • Production Incident Support: Participate actively in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 relational database availability and deliver rapid responses to live production system incidents.
  • Operational Integrity Governance: Plan and execute regular operational maintenance windows, systematically running quarterly patching modules, monthly index reviews, and production backup integrity tests.
  • Development Query Optimization: Advance your structural data knowledge by participating in peer code reviews, assisting Developer and TechOps squads with query optimization, and tuning complex T-SQL procedures.
  • Scripted Process Automation: Utilize Python and PowerShell scripting languages to construct and maintain internal automation utilities, focusing on AWS Lambdas and GitHub Action workflows.
  • Security & Permissions Management: Supervise user security matrices, manage database permissions, and author standard operating procedures (SOPs) or disaster recovery runbooks.
  • Regulatory Framework Compliance: Partner with internal teams to implement and audit data security controls that safeguard absolute compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC2 standards across all database systems.
  • Telemetry & Alerting Integration: Utilize cloud monitoring resources, leveraging AWS CloudWatch, DMVs, or Datadog interfaces to capture and review runtime execution bottlenecks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of verified professional history running database administration, database technical support, cloud data operations, or data platform maintenance within live production-level environments.
  • Practical, hands-on administrative exposure configuring and maintaining relational environments explicitly inside Microsoft SQL Server (version 2019 or newer).
  • Solid baseline comprehension of core cloud services and event structures within the AWS Environment, specifically covering RDS instances, Lambda triggers, State Machines, and CloudWatch profiling.
  • Technical programming literacy writing and reviewing clean data definitions natively using T-SQL, accompanied by exposure to Python or PowerShell script parameters for task automation.
  • Deep theoretical understanding of core database primitives, including ACID properties, structural indexing, data security, and backup/restore strategies.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with an absolute capacity to coordinate reliably alongside distributed DevOps and TechOps cells.
  • On-Call Availability Constraint: Direct personal commitment to fully support a rotating, global 24/7 technical incident on-call schedule.
  • Location Context: Full-time operational parameters limited exclusively to qualified database specialists permanently based within allowed U.S. states (including CA, TX, NY, FL, PA, GA, IL, OH, NC, MI, and others outlined in regional guidelines) to operate 100% remotely from home.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Experience or familiarity with advanced automated cloud telemetry tools, machine performance logs, or CloudWatch DMV query blocks.
  • Basic exposure to infrastructure as code software utilities, such as configuring database architecture models using Terraform templates for RDS.
  • Prior background navigating compliance-driven, highly regulated healthcare technology configurations or data rooms.
  • A natural curiosity for staying current with upcoming SQL Server feature rollouts and enterprise cloud architecture trends.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Calibrated Salaried Compensation: An attractive baseline salary range calibrated transparently between $77,200 – $96,500 USD per year, precisamente tailored to evaluate your professional capabilities.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly maintain, optimize, and expand the secure cloud data architectures backing an international health tech service leader.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering high lifestyle flexibility, complete execution autonomy, and zero physical office geographical drag.
  • Comprehensive health care provisions, encompassing multiple dental, vision, and group medical plans to choose from, supplemented by employer-paid short-term and long-term disability line protections.
  • Immediate eligibility to enroll in local retirement savings programs, highlighting a company-supported 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Access to group life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) options, customized health spending accounts (FSA and HSA), commuter benefits, and a monthly Lifestyle Spending Account allowance.
  • Tailored supplemental benefits, including spouse life insurance options, legal insurance assistance, an employee assistance program, complimentary home health testing kits, and a fertility medication discount program.
  • Generous paid time off benefits comprising flexible vacation allocations, accrued paid sick time, 10 scheduled calendar paid holidays, and 8 weeks of paid parental leave (with additional paid weeks for the birthing parent and 4 weeks of paid caregiver leave).
