About Confiant: Confiant is a premier, internationally recognized cybersecurity platform pioneer, digital advertising innovator, and enterprise threat intelligence leader on an absolute mission to secure the global ad economy from the inside out. Operating as a 100% virtual enterprise with a globally distributed team, Confiant provides the critical real-time intelligence layer and precise software controls necessary to detect and completely block malvertising, automated scams, disruptive client-side creatives, and data compliance risks before they ever reach end users. Processing tens of millions of programmatic transactions every single day for the world’s leading AdTech networks and publishers, Confiant disrupts the underlying business models of bad actors. By protecting corporate revenue, brand reputations, and consumer relationships, the organization secures the structural foundation that allows high-signal digital media to thrive safely.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly sophisticated, systems-minded JavaScript Engineer at the Staff or Senior Staff level (Engineer IV/V) to join our core global Engineering team in a full-time remote capacity. In this deeply technical, specialized client-side seat, you will co-own and evolve the core embeddable JavaScript SDK that sits at the absolute heart of Confiant’s malvertising detection and blocking infrastructure. Moving completely away from generic application wrappers or UI components, you will be responsible for engineering the invisible—writing precise, performant, and hyper-resilient vanilla scripts that execute in real-time within complex browser contexts to neutralize threats instantly. This high-agency role demands a true master of the web runtime who obsesses over execution cost, payload bundle sizes, and cross-origin security constraints, serving as a vital force multiplier to protect millions of publisher page environments worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Client-Side SDK Curation: Co-architect, develop, and expand Confiant’s embeddable client-side JavaScript SDK, ensuring high structural durability and code clarity.
  • Browser Runtime Performance Optimization: Profile and optimize script internals for maximum runtime efficiency, relentlessly minimizing execution time overhead, garbage collection friction, and memory footprints across diverse publisher sites.
  • Scalable Distribution Engineering: Establish and deploy robust script versioning, backward compatibility, and CDN delivery strategies to facilitate smooth, gradual rollouts across a heterogeneous global customer network.
  • Threat Intelligence Translation: Partner closely beside security research teams to translate active threat signals (such as browser ad-injections, payload obfuscations, and sandbox escapes) into performant SDK-level detection logic.
  • Observability & Telemetry Instrumentation: Instrument the client SDK with precise telemetry hooks, ensuring signals, security exceptions, and blocking events are streamed reliably back to backend ETL and API layers.
  • Rigorous Sandbox Profiling: Conduct systematic profiling, automated cross-browser benchmarking, and regression testing using Playwright to ensure SDK updates never degrade the consumer page experience.
  • Browser Security Model Navigation: Navigate complex browser security sandboxes, writing secure code blocks that comply with Same-Origin policies, Content Security Policies (CSP), and cross-origin isolation matrices natively inside **iframes and ad slots**.
  • Production Incident Triage: Investigate and debug complex, time-sensitive client-side production defects occurring in real ad environments across wide combinations of legacy and modern rendering engines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Expert-level development history running advanced client-side systems engineering, library architecture, embeddable script construction, or complex web platform building.
  • Deep, authoritative technical command of browser compilation internals, including the event loop execution model, memory layouts, garbage collection parameters, and runtime execution contexts.
  • Hands-on production history compiling, bundling, and shipping high-performance production code using modern tooling like Webpack, Rollup, esbuild, Babel, or SWC.
  • Demonstrated ability to tune code for minimal bundle sizes, optimized parse times, structural network payload impact, and graceful degradation profiles.
  • Practical familiarity navigating structural browser testing frameworks and automation utilities such as Jest, Playwright, or Puppeteer.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication mechanics, with a proven history establishing software engineering principles and collaborating cross-functionally across engineering, product, and researcher matrix teams.
  • Leveling Parameters:
    • Engineer IV (Staff): 6+ years of verified history, with a clear track record of leading the technical direction of a production-scale library or software utility product lines.
    • Engineer V (Senior Staff): 8+ years of verified history, demonstrating structural maturity setting company engineering practices and leading cross-domain architectural changes.
  • Location Context: Parameters open to qualified software architects based permanently anywhere globally to operate 100% remotely from home under a virtual office infrastructure.

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

  • Prior professional experience navigating the AdTech domain, including familiarity with programmatic ad serving architectures, header bidding wrappers, or tag management systems.
  • Background in applied cybersecurity domains, malware analysis, script reverse-engineering, or automated fraud detection patterns.
  • Familiarity with full-stack data flow integration, linking high-volume client-side metrics with server-side microservices or distributed data storage engines.

What We Offer

  • High-Yield Calibrated Comp Matrix:
    • Engineer IV (Staff): An attractive baseline salary range structured between $140,000 – $190,000 USD per year.
    • Engineer V (Senior Staff): An attractive baseline salary range structured between $170,000 – $220,000 USD per year.
  • The exceptional professional canvas to directly code-shape, program, and scale the client-side security engines shielding the digital media landscape from malvertising groups.
  • Profound work-from-home remote parameters offering high lifestyle flexibility, **Unlimited Paid Time Off**, fully paid corporate sabbaticals, and a yearly remote office supply stipend.
  • Immediate eligibility to access high-value company stock option allocations, alongside an employer-sponsored 401(k) plan with automatic corporate contributions.
  • Comprehensive health rewards, featuring exceptional group medical, dental, and vision care lines, combined with FSA and pre-tax commuter benefits.
  • Access to an annual personal Learning and Development budget, enhanced extended family leaves, and a free global co-working membership for flexible offsite workspace access.
  • Opportunities to maintain human trust and connection via monthly local gatherings in New York City and quarterly physical on-sites in various global locations.
