ValonOS is their unified platform, perfectly positioned for the AI era, enabling AI agents to continuously improve entire operations.
About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Infrastructure to lead Valon’s Cloud Infrastructure and Developer Infrastructure functions as a cohesive organization. This is a Senior Manager/Director-level role responsible for the systems powering ValonOS and enabling engineers to build and operate it.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and communicate a multi-year infrastructure strategy across Compute, Storage, data platforms, developer tooling, CI/CD, test infrastructure, observability, and engineering productivity.
- Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing organization, including engineering managers, senior technical leaders, and individual contributors.
- Own the portfolio roadmap and investment decisions across critical domains like Compute, Storage, databases, SRE, developer experience, and observability.
- Set company-wide standards for reliability, security, service ownership, incident management, developer productivity, and operational excellence.
- Partner with product, engineering, security, data, and operations leaders to align infrastructure priorities with customer commitments, product strategy, and business goals.
- Build planning, review, and operating mechanisms to ensure progress visibility and explicit tradeoffs.
- Stay hands-on to guide architecture, challenge assumptions, and engage in critical technical decisions and incidents.
- Recruit exceptional talent, develop leaders, and foster a culture of high agency, accountability, direct feedback, and collaboration.
- Represent infrastructure clearly to the broader company and establish the organization as a trusted partner to every engineering team.
Valon handles over 100 million background jobs per day and expects to scale more than 10x over the next two years. As ValonOS expands across major mortgage servicers, the infrastructure organization will be central to protecting reliability, accelerating innovation, and raising the bar for regulated financial software.
Examples of roadmap work include:
- Scaling compute and batch-processing systems to support rapid growth in production workloads.
- Building a durable, well-operated storage and data platform, including migrations, replication, backup, recovery, and performance.
- Creating production-equivalent environments for customer testing, demos, and internal development.
- Improving integration testing, schema compatibility, releases, and observability for every engineering team.
- Adopting AI-enabled developer tools with appropriate quality, security, and governance controls.
Ideal Background
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading multiple teams, engineering managers, or a substantial infrastructure organization.
- Experience owning a broad infrastructure portfolio including cloud platforms, compute, storage, databases, SRE, developer infrastructure, or related domains.
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems and a track record of operating critical production systems at scale.
- Experience setting strategy across both production infrastructure and developer experience, or the ability to credibly lead leaders in both areas.
- Hands-on experience with cloud providers such as AWS or GCP, container orchestration, data stores, CI/CD, and observability.
- Excellent organizational judgment to sequence foundational investments, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and connect technical work to business outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in hiring, developing, and retaining strong teams through periods of rapid growth and change.
- Clear, concise communication skills to build alignment across engineering, product, security, data, and operations.

Valon
View Company ProfileValon is a highly disruptive, AI-native FinTech and PropTech enterprise fundamentally revolutionizing the heavily regulated mortgage servicing industry. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York City, the company completely replaces the deeply antiquated, decades-old legacy software that the U.S. housing market has historically relied upon. Under the hood, Valon has built "ValonOS"—a modern, auditable, and vertically integrated system of record that seamlessly unifies complex workflows, large-scale money movement, and strict compliance protocols into a single cohesive platform. Their proprietary AI agents actively handle complex data extraction, escrow analysis, and intelligent workflow routing, significantly driving down operational servicing costs to 3x lower than the industry average. Their primary target audience spans massive institutional investors, large-scale mortgage lenders, and enterprise servicers who desperately need a secure, scalable infrastructure to manage billion-dollar loan portfolios. What sets Valon apart in the complex financial ecosystem is its uncompromising engineering approach; rather than building a shallow wrapper over broken legacy rails, they rebuilt the entire core infrastructure from scratch, ensuring bulletproof regulatory compliance while elevating the homeowner experience far above the industry standard.
