Tint enables SaaS platforms and marketplaces to unlock growth and improve profitability through embedded insurance. We offer plug-and-play and white-labeled integrations, equipping brands we partner with a sophisticated mix of technology infrastructure, services, and deep industry expertise. Embedded insurance can transform insurance from a product bought separately to a feature of brands consumers love, and we are on a mission to make that happen.

Happy Tint customers include Turo, Deel, uShip, Guesty, Montway, Neighbor, and CitizenShipper, among others.

We've raised $30M and are backed by world-class investors such as Y Combinator, QED, Deciens, Nyca, Plug and Play, WIN, Soma Capital, and Pioneer Fund.

About the role

Tint is seeking a Head of Drone & UAV Insurance to lead the strategy, development, and growth of embedded insurance solutions for the commercial drone market. This includes inspection and survey operators, drone delivery, agriculture, aerial imaging, drone-as-a-service platforms, and rental and equipment marketplaces.

This leader will design and scale insurance programs for one of the fastest-evolving risk categories in the market. Working closely with aviation carriers, MGAs, brokers, drone platforms, and our internal product and operations teams, you will build programs that fit how modern drone businesses operate, from per-flight and on-demand coverage to annual fleet policies.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in aviation or drone insurance and a track record of designing and launching programs with carriers and distribution partners. This role is highly strategic and requires both domain expertise and the ability to build a new market from the ground up.

What you will do

  • Lead Drone/UAV Insurance Strategy: Define and execute Tint’s strategy across the drone vertical, identifying market opportunities and building scalable embedded insurance solutions for operators, platforms, and marketplaces.
  • Design and Launch Insurance Programs: Lead the design and launch of drone insurance programs, including:
    • Program structure across hull, liability, payload, and non-owned coverage
    • Underwriting guidelines and eligibility criteria (pilot certification, operation type, airspace)
    • Pricing and risk segmentation, including usage-based and per-flight models
    • Policy forms, filings, and regulatory compliance
  • Build Carrier and Capacity Partnerships: Develop and manage relationships with aviation carriers, MGAs, reinsurers, and brokers to secure sustainable capacity and competitive program structures.
  • Grow Tint’s Presence in the Drone Ecosystem: Build relationships with drone operators, software platforms, OEMs, and marketplaces to grow Tint’s customer base and uncover new embedded insurance opportunities.
  • Monitor Program Performance: Track underwriting results, claims trends, and operational metrics to improve profitability, risk management, and customer value.
  • Serve as Industry Subject Matter Expert: Act as Tint’s internal and external expert on drone risk, tracking FAA rules (including Part 107, Remote ID, and BVLOS developments), emerging exposures such as privacy and cyber, and new coverage models.
  • Represent Tint in the Market: Engage with carriers, brokers, drone companies, and industry groups to position Tint as a leader in drone insurance.

You should apply if you have...

  • 5+ years in aviation, drone/UAV, or specialty insurance, with meaningful exposure to commercial drone operations
  • Experience designing or launching insurance programs, including underwriting structures, filings, and carrier partnerships
  • A strong understanding of drone risk characteristics across operation types, equipment, and regulatory environments
  • Experience working with carriers, MGAs, brokers, and reinsurers to structure programs
  • The ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, operations, and sales teams
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to turn market opportunities into scalable solutions
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in fast-paced environments such as startups, MGAs, or program administrators

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with embedded insurance, program business, or digital insurance platforms
  • Familiarity with flight log data, telematics, or usage-based insurance models
  • An FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • CPCU, CIC, or similar professional certifications

What We Value Most in a Candidate

  • Culture is Key. As a remote company, we take culture very seriously. We are looking for self-motivated candidates who can stay motivated and focused. But don't worry, we're still social! We work collaboratively even though we are remote and travel to team and company retreats throughout the year, which builds the personal relationships that allow us multiply our power working remotely. That also means we hold ourselves to a high standard in how we treat each other (with respect, professionalism, and genuine care) to maintain an environment where colleagues feel safe and valued - that's something we don't compromise on.
  • Focused on Results. We are a fast-moving small team with big goals. We need team players that feel a sense of urgency to drive meaningful results for the business. We have clear company goals and a pathway to significant growth - and this role is integral to that journey.
  • Customer-first. Put yourself in the shoes of someone trying to buy our solution. We need a person who can empathize with our customers and help create strategies to continually improve the customer experience.
  • Adaptability. We're still an early-stage startup, and things change quickly. If you are energized by learning and discovering on-the-go, this will be an excellent fit for you. We are looking for open-minded candidates that adapt well to changing environments as our company grows and scales.

Why Tint?

Tint isn’t just focused on transforming the entire insurance industry - we have ambitious goals, value merit and open communication, celebrating diversity and unique ideas. At Tint, we support your personal and professional growth by offering the below benefits:

  • Flexible Working. With team members working across time zones, we are outcome-focused and give our people the flexibility they need to do their best work. To support flexible working, we’ll give you a stipend to get your home office dialed in and we’ll also reimburse you for co-working space memberships.
  • Flexible Time Off. It's pretty simple: we don’t control the days and hours that each of us works, so we’re free to manage our time however we want to achieve the goals and deliverables we committed to. We have unlimited vacation time. Use it whenever you need to recharge!
  • Competitive Compensation. In addition to a competitive salary, you’ll receive equity as part of your offer. We’re all owners - when Tint succeeds, we all succeed! We also help you maximize your money by offering an FSA and a 401(k).
  • Comprehensive Healthcare. Tint covers 100% of employee (and dependent!) premiums for medical, vision, and dental.
  • Company Retreats to Exciting Locations. We meet in person as a company twice a year to make sure we have time to connect in real life and get to have those conversations that are better done in person. These retreats are a mix of business and fun and we always choose a cool, central-ish location - think Barcelona, Playa del Carmen, Mallorca… Add on a few days of your flexible time off and you’ve *almost* got a free vacation somewhere cool!
