In a typical day, you will:

  • Work in web files to modify HTML and CSS content as part of the production process for our international campaigns, in coordination with Revenue Specialists. This involves finding and updating translation elements, implementing copy tests, and interfacing with linguists and creative strategists to verify test content before it goes live.
  • Work in our CentralNotice banner delivery platform to implement new campaigns and banner tests. Guided by test priorities from the Revenue Specialists, you will ensure test content is ready and organized for clarity of reporting.
  • Manage QA processes for our banner program, which includes cross-browser review and the implementation of a “QA checklist” maintained by our design team. If bugs are found, you will work with developers and designers to triage and verify their solutions.
  • Receive instructions on new tasks from Revenue Specialists and the Senior Manager of Fundraising Products. You will maintain your own Asana board of priorities and contribute to other Asana workflows to ensure campaign delivery.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS; JS is a ‘nice to have’ but optional. This position is not a developer role, but comfort navigating code, implementing test overrides, and verifying your changes is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to own and maintain quality assurance processes.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to perform autonomously in a remote, time-zone distributed environment.
  • A desire to learn on the job and adapt to Wikimedia’s unique movement and model.
  • Experience with multilingual marketing or programs, and comfort working within distributed, international environments.
  • December is a critical fundraising month and team members are generally needed to work in this month.
  • Occasional travel, approximately 2 times a year, including internationally.

The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization that hosts Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and several other free knowledge projects. Unlike tech giants that sell user data or show ads, Wikimedia is funded primarily by millions of small donations from readers (wohi banners jo kabhi kabhi Wikipedia par aate hain). Their mission is to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally. They don't write the content themselves; instead, they provide the server infrastructure and software (MediaWiki) for the community of volunteers.
