About The Role
This role sits on one of Floatâs product-focused engineering squads, responsible for building end-to-end experiences used daily by thousands of Canadian businesses. Youâll work across the stack to deliver intuitive, reliable, and scalable product features that directly impact customersâ financial workflows.
We are hiring across multiple levels for this role. Our interview process is designed to evaluate candidates objectively based on scope, judgment, and learning velocity, and we will level accordingly. As Float continues to grow, there are meaningful opportunities to expand ownership, deepen technical impact, and take on broader responsibility regardless of starting level.
This role is well-suited for developers who enjoy product thinking, end-to-end ownership, and balancing speed with quality in a high-autonomy environment.
What Youâll Be Doing
Build and evolve end-to-end product features across backend, frontend, and APIs.
Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver simple, intuitive user experiences.
Translate customer needs into thoughtful technical solutions that scale.
Make principled trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
Own features in production, including iteration, reliability, and improvement over time.
Contribute to shared standards, tooling, and practices that raise engineering quality.
Work within a small, empowered squad with clear ownership over a product vertical.
What Success Looks Like (6â12 Months)
You ship meaningful product features that are used and valued by customers.
Your work improves the clarity, usability, or reliability of core product flows.
You take ownership of a meaningful slice of the product and execute with confidence.
You collaborate effectively across Product, Design, and Engineering.
Your judgment and execution raise the bar for your squad and peers.
What Weâre Looking For
Experience building full stack product features in a modern web environment.
Comfort working across backend, frontend, and APIs (depth may vary by individual).
Strong product and customer intuition â you care about what youâre building and why.
Ownership mindset for features in production.
Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to keep improving your craft.
Bonus: experience with Python/Django, TypeScript/React, AWS, or fintech products.
Why You Should Join
Work at one of Canada's fastest-growing fintech companies
Make a real impact in a high-autonomy, high-growth role
Collaborate with an ambitious and supportive team
Competitive compensation, equity options, and benefits
Hybrid work model â we are based in Toronto with in-office days for connection and collaboration
Enjoy catered team lunches every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Bring your pup to our dog-friendly office
Thrive in a high-trust, high-performance culture where your work truly matters
